Relocation

Moving is hard. It isn’t a super straightforward endeavor, but we have compiled a couple of the resources that will help in the process.

2.1 Moving your belongings

If you are moving from across the country, consider checking out Amtrak Express Shipping, Busfreighter, FedEx, Greyhound Package Express, or uship

2.2 Finding Housing and/or Roommates

Students live in Corvallis, as well as nearby cities, Albany and Philomath. Corvallis is separated into several neighborhoods, including Southtwown

The Corvallis City Council operates the Rental Housing Program in an effort to help interested parties navigate rental housing in the city.  Likewise, the Office of Student Life on campus has created a guide to the renting process.

If you are looking for housing with roommates, feel free to ask Robert Allan or Lori Hartline to send an email on your behalf to the graduate student listserv! A lot of CEOAS students live together, and hey, people do graduate!

Some other places to find roommates are:

2.2.1. Timetable to look for housing and/or roommates

July seems to be the prime time to find a good lease. Waiting to look for housing until August or September is likely to yield less options. The best advice would be that once you know you’ll be joining CEOAS you start to look (re: look early)!

Moving can honestly be really expensive, and it is best to talk to your advisor to determine when would be the best for you to make it out to Corvallis.

2.3 Cost of Living

Corvallis is a bit on the expensive side in terms of the cost of living compared to the national average. If you’d like to look into the specific costs, there is a website that can help!
