The 2026 Sampling Season is now OPEN!

Now RECRUITING New Fishers around
Newport, Oregon
for the 2026 Sampling Season!

The Kavanaugh Seascape Ecology Lab has proudly conducted an annual Cooperative Fisheries Research (CFR) Project every summer since our pilot study in 2022, with the highly valued assistance of local fishers and businesses from the Newport, Port Orford, and Winchester Bay, OR areas. The project was initially stewarded by Raquel Gilliland under the guidance of developers Maria Kavanaugh, Lori Cramer, and Flaxen Conway, and was then managed by Kelly George during the 2024 season with the help of our wonderful undergraduate students.
Masters student Taylor Wood began managing the CFR Project in the 2025 sampling season, and will continue co-managing the project with K. George for the 2026 sampling season.
