Lydia Perry recently attended the Casting for Recovery fly fishing retreat. It’s a unique program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing and is open to breast cancer survivors of all ages, in all stages of treatment and recovery, and is free to participants. Most of us know (or will know) someone who has received a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, and all of those women are eligible to participate. There are two in Oregon every year (the next is Oct 23-25) and they are held in 37 states. GO LYDIA!! Here’s the link: http://castingforrecovery.org/

OFFICE 2013/ CN UPDATE

Office 2013 is available from CN for PC users. There is a plan to roll this out to all systems later this summer. Some of you already have this version because you have newer systems. Individual users may request upgrades at any point. You may call them 7-8787 to schedule the upgrade. One nice feature allows editing pdfs in Word. More of what is new/difference with this version here. There should not be any compatibility issues with using or sharing documents with older versions of Office. For Mac users, the new Office client should arrive later this summer as well. This should remove some of the issues with accessing archive folders and other annoyances syncing with the Exchange Server.

Additionally, Stephen Hotard has been in contact with Ben Shields of CN and recently spoke with Erica Lomax, the Project Manager for ‘IAM – Account Unification’. We will start testing the account consolidation and then roll this out for the Research Office soon. This will combine our CN and Onid accounts. When we have a unified accounts, this will allow us to start using the OSU instance of Office 365. This will allow you to sync your Office documents, similar to the OSU Google Drive instance. If you have any questions about all of this, please let Stephen know.
