PRE-ACCELERATOR WORKSHOP UPDATE

The Pre-Accelerator, a workshop series consisting of four successive two-hour seminars, kicked off with a bang on October 28th! These workshops focus on key business concepts that provide start-ups with tools and hands-on experiences; ultimately helping them build their businesses. With over 25 teams in attendance, Austin Hall Rm 222 was packed to capacity. Thank you to our friends and guest speakers Holmwell Software, Mike Brown, and the Corvallis Benton County Economic Development Office.

ACCOUNT UNIFICATION ON NOV. 9

The Research Office CN and Onid accounts will be unified on November 9. This means you will have 1 account and password for logging into OSU resources, instead of using CN for some services and ONID for others. IMPORTANT NOTE from Community Network: “We don’t want to unify anyone who’s traveling on the 9th or 10th, as it could affect their ability to reach OSU resources from off campus. Please let Stephen know at stephen.hotard@oregonstate.edu if you anticipate being out of the office that day so that we can provide a list of these users to Community Network. Thank you.

WEATHER ALERT: HEAVY RAINS AND WIND THROUGH SATURDAY

Just in time for trick or treating…be safe out there with the kiddos! Short term flooding is a concern, especially if rain cannot enter the rain gutters or rain water containment systems due to fallen leaves blocking drains. Also, driving on wet leaves has the same result as driving on ice, so be cautious as you drive. More info here: October_30_atmospheric_river  and Email Briefing Rain-Wind Oct 29 201

RENTAL HOME AVAILABLE

If you are interested in participating, please let Jillian Coleman know by November 19th. Participation involves making a donation in any amount you choose to help purchase presents. If you’d like to help shop, you can do that too. They are also accepting donations of wrapping paper, ribbons, tape, etc.

ECO2GO CONTAINERS

I can’t say enough good things about the great new orange to go containers that dining services are now using but it’s up to the individual to make sure they return their used containers to one of the return bins (and NOT leave them in the kitchen for someone else to contend with). There is a return box conveniently located in front of Kerr on the Jefferson St. side. Here is the link which shows a location map of the return bins.

QUALTRICS SURVEY TOOL TRAINING OPP

The Professional Faculty Leadership Association (PFLA) is sponsoring a learning workshop for OSU employees on November 19, 1:00-2:30 entitled “Expanding Your Qualtrics Horizon,” presented by JoAnne Bunnage, College of Public Health and Human Sciences. The Qualtrics web-based survey platform is a powerful tool that is available to all OSU faculty, staff, and students. Qualtrics can be used to build simple one-question polls to complex multi-component surveys. This opportunity is provided to all employees whether or not they are active members of PFLA. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members to participate. For details and to register, see the attached flyer or visit here. Administrative faculty who arrange meetings and events, this is a GREAT tool to use for RSVPs, gathering data on your audience, etc.
