ORI JOINS NWABR

ORI would like to announce OSU’s membership with NWABR – the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research.  The announcement is included in their attached newsletter: OSU_NWABR member_2018.  NWABR is a connector, partnering with research leaders to build and sustain trustworthy practices by connecting them to colleagues across the Northwest whose resources and expertise strengthen the community.  NWABR promotes public understanding of research and its ethical conduct. Their members come from academia, industry, health care and voluntary health organizations throughout the Northwest.  They work with and for their members to strengthen public trust in research through education and dialogue.

 

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES SESSION – FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

What do you do if Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) comes to your classroom looking for a student? What if you are asked for a list of undocumented students? What are impacted students concerned about?  What resources are available for impacted students? If you are interested in the answers to these and other questions, and want to learn more about supporting undocumented students at OSU, join us for a Know Your Rights & Responsibilities Session for Faculty and Staff with OSU’s Undocumented Student Care and Wellbeing Committee and immigration lawyer Maria Cobarrubias on Thursday, February 22 from 12-1pm OR 2-3pm in the MU Multipurpose Room (MU 13). REMINDER: SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR SPRING RO ALL STAFF MEETING- 3/9/18

Please be sure to save the date for our first RO All Staff meeting on 2018, taking place on Friday, March 9 from 10:30-11:30am in MU 208. It will be a packed so please arrive early to grab a seat. Note that, in addition to formally welcoming many new faces including our AVPR, Staci Simonich, we will also be joined by HMSC Director Bob Cowen, who will give us an update on activities at the coast. FAREWELLS

FROM PAT HAWK: I’m very sad to announce that Aedra McCarthy will be leaving us at the end of March due to family health issues. Aedra joined the RO in 2010 and will definitely be missed.  Aedra will be 100% telecommuting starting February 1, but will likely travel back to campus from time to time in February and March. Please let me know if anyone has questions or concerns.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR BIKE IN TO KERR

Facilities has asked us to reminder our staff that bicycles are not to be parked inside buildings because of the safety hazards bicycles can present. The indoor areas where bicycles are prohibited include offices, laboratories, corridors, stairways, exit ways and other areas within administrative, academic, research, service and performing arts buildings.
