A MESSAGE FROM HELEN DIGGS

The third week of April has long been recognized by animal activists as World Laboratory Animal Liberation Week, a time to aggressively protest the use of animals in research, teaching, and testing. Through the years the ‘week’ has expanding into several weeks. During this period we may hear of protest demonstrations, facility break-ins and acts of violence directed at investigators and research institutions throughout the United States and around the world. Be careful these next weeks to secure your facilities, especially in the evenings and weekends. As always, any suspicious activities in or around your facilities should be reported immediately to the Department of Public Safety 541-737-3010. Report emergencies or urgent issues to 911 or Campus Public Safety 541-737-7000. Helen is available to speak to individuals and groups with questions regarding the use of animals in research. Please direct them to her at: larc@oregonstate.edu
