In principle, resilient design is meant to be flexible, to anticipate disruptions, and to value social equity and community. —Andrea Kaston Tange, Resilient Design
Are you seeking a supportive community of teaching faculty focused on resilience and improvement of teaching? Curious how to choose and use ed tech tools? Looking for an enjoyable way to re-energize your Corvallis or Cascades campus teaching?
The Resilient Teaching Faculty Learning Community is a professional development program sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). A cross-disciplinary cohort of OSU faculty will explore solutions to teaching challenges, share strategies to build resilience in teaching, and learn ways to use ed tech tools to blend in-class and out-of-class learning.
The Resilient Teaching FLC is a professional development program sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Academic Technologies. CTL is providing $1,000 to OSU instructors who:
- Fully participate in synchronous learning community meetings and asynchronous Canvas learning activities.
- Create plans to implement resilient teaching practices in a Winter ‘26 or Spring ’26 on-campus course.
- Write a post (500+ words) about their teaching strategies for publication on the CTL blog.
- Present their ideas about resilient teaching at the final learning community meeting (showcase).
The learning community blends five required Zoom meetings with online learning activities in Canvas throughout the term starting on Monday, Sep. 29. The time commitment averages approximately 90 minutes per week. The learning community will meet on Wed., 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., on Oct. 8 and 22, Nov. 5 and 19, and Dec. 3.
Oregon State University fixed-term and tenured/tenure-track academic faculty who regularly teach credit-based Corvallis and Cascades campus courses are eligible to apply. Space is limited. This learning community is focused around on-campus teaching. It is not for development or redevelopment of Ecampus courses; faculty support for Ecampus courses can be found at Ecampus Faculty Support.
To be considered for participation in this learning community, please submit your application by Wednesday, Sep. 17.
Participants will be notified regarding acceptance by Wednesday, Sep 24. Upon acceptance, the instructor, the instructor’s unit head and CTL will sign an MOU regarding FLC participation and funding. Payment will be made after all program requirements are completed.
