THIS WEEK! Bleached Botanicals – DIY bleach painting in the SEC Plaza!
Got some old clothes that need new life? Need something to turn heads this spring? Join us in the SEC Plaza on Wednesday, May 7th from 3 – 5 p.m. for Bleached Botanicals, where we’re celebrating spring with DIY bleach painting. 🎨 Bring your own shirt, tank, or hoodie 🧺 Or grab one from us! THIS WEEK! 2025 Honors College Spring Gala
The Annual Honors College Spring Gala is happening Fri, May 9 this year and will be held in the CH2M HILL Alumni Center. The theme this year is western chic with a special appearance from the OSU Western Line Dance Club! So put on your cowboy boots and come celebrate the end of another amazing year with the Honors College! The event starts at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and dancing will be start at 7 p.m. There will be a musical guest and awards given out! Watch out on our Instagram for information regarding dress code! Find the RSVP link here. We will be playing a slideshow during the event to showcase student memories from this school year. THIS WEEK! HC Serve: CARDV 5k Volunteering
Support an important cause and have fun doing it! Volunteer on Sat., May 10 at Benton County Fairgrounds to help monitor the course at the CARDV 5K Run/Walk, benefiting the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence. You’ll cheer on runners, help guide participants, and make a real impact! ✨ Free t-shirt and snacks provided! Volunteers should bring a water bottle, and weather dependent a rainjacket or sunglasses. The race starts at 9 a.m., and depending on the number of volunteers we could be done as early as 11.🚗 Meet at North LINC parking lot at 7:30 a.m. for a ride, or head straight to the fairgrounds by 7:45 a.m. (110 SW 53rd St, Corvallis). 🌦️ Bring a water bottle, and maybe sunglasses or a rain jacket — Oregon weather keeps us guessing! Interview Workshop with HCSA
Getting ready for internship or job interviews? Not sure what to expect or how to prepare? Join us on Thursday, May 15th from 4:00-5:30 pm in LINC 345 for an interview workshop designed for undergraduate students! Whether it’s your first interview or you’re just looking to improve your skills, this workshop will help you to feel more ready and confident. This workshop will be led by Dr. Michelle Strowbridge, the assistant director of career services at OSU! This event will have free pizza from Woodstock and refreshments available to those who attend. There will also be a raffle prize that everyone is automatically entered into upon arrival! If you are interested in attending, please fill out this RSVP form. NEW! HC Serve: Helping Heartland Humane
Love thrift shops? Love helping cute animals? Love giving back to the community? Hate waking up early but will do it for free snacks and good vibes? Then this event is for you.
Spend your Sunday morning on May 18th helping animals in need—while sorting through some truly unpredictable donations. We’ll be volunteering at the Heartland Humane Thrift Shop, which directly supports the Humane Shelter. (The shop’s profits make up 30% of the shelter’s annual budget!) Volunteers will help sort and price donated clothes, organize racks, and tidy up the shop. This work directly supports this vital community resource and helps keep the shop running smoothly to help protect local animals!
Breakfast snacks and drinks will be provided to keep you fueled!
Transportation will be provided from the LINC at 8:30 a.m., or you can meet us at the thrift shop (411 SW 3rd St, Corvallis) by ~8:55. Come ready to sort, smile, and serve—whether you’re in it for the puppies, the philanthropy, or the free snacks. RSVP here.

WEEKLY! Wag and Walk Wednesdays with Cedar!
Join Cedar, the campus wellness dog, for a weekly Wag and Walk with the Honors College! Take some time out of your Wednesday to take a break, get outside, and connect with others (and pet Cedar, of course)! Walks will not be challenging, and we will go on whatever route Cedar’s nose and curiosity leads us. Come for the hour or come for part of it- we can even walk you to your next class! Wag and Walk with Cedar will start at 1 p.m., meeting on the west side of the LINC (by the LINC doors facing Sackett Hall!), and will last until roughly 2 or 2:15. THIS WEEK! Honors College x ALI Ropes Course – Sign Up Now!
Join the Honors College and the Adventure Leadership Institute for a morning on the low ropes course! Challenge yourself, build connections, and have fun with fellow HC students. This free event takes place Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students can meet at the ropes course or walk over together from outside the LINC at 9:30 a.m. Space is limited to 25 participants—sign up here. Stage 1-3 Thesis Drop-In hours in the SLUG and on Zoom:
HC Thesis Resource Navigators will be hosting drop-in hours in the SLUG and on Zoom for any questions you might have regarding your thesis. If you’re unsure where to begin, having trouble identifying mentors to connect with, or not sure how to write your Thesis Proposal (among other things), our navigators are here to guide you in the right direction. If you are unable to make it to any of their drop-in sessions, feel free to reach out to them directly by completing the Request a Navigator webform. If you have questions around Stage 4, we’ll be hosting thesis workshops between 4-5 p.m. every week day in LInC 450 and on Zoom! Please email dewi.roberts@oregonstate.edu if you have any questions.

Stage 4 Thesis Drop-In Workshop Hours
The HC is excited to offer drop-in thesis hours for students who are in stage 4 of their thesis! These will be happening in LInC 450 and on Zoom, where they’ll run Monday through Friday from 4-5 p.m. Whether you’re grappling with formatting challenges for your pre-text pages, have questions about the external communication requirement, or encounter any other thesis-related issues, this is your opportunity to seek assistance! Participants wanted for survey on food insecurity
Honors student researcher Roman Quick is seeking students to participate as volunteers in his thesis research on food insecurity. “This is an Honors Thesis student’s survey researching the food programs and strategies utilized by the OSU student population. It includes general questions as well as questions about your familiarity with food programs and strategies. Your participation, regardless of your experience with food programs or strategies, is useful to understanding the OSU student population.” Find the consent statement and survey here.

Submit Creative Works to the NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity
UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity welcomes your research and creative submissions before June 1. UReCA is sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council, and is currently managed, edited and produced by a team of twenty-nine undergraduate students from each of the NCHC regions and a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Though diverse, we share a common goal: the production of a prestigious national journal, for students, by students. You may visit the journal here. Read more and submit here.

HC drop-in advising is available the middle of the day, the middle of the week. Have a quick question for an advisor? HC advising drop-in hours are Wednesdays, from 11:30 to 1:30, in LInC 450 and on Zoom (meeting link is in HC Advising Canvas course).

Want some help with a variety of coursework topics? HC peer tutors can help! Check out study groups for writing, biology, math, and chemistry and bring your HC friends! This space can be used for study groups or 1 on 1 tutoring. You do not need to be in the Honors sections to attend. Study Abroad

Volunteer with Global Medical Brigades in Guatemala in December
Global Medical Brigades at Oregon State University is a student organization that works in partnership with Global Brigades, a nonprofit health and sustainable development organization. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized tens of thousands of university students and professionals through skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members, improving the quality of life in under-resourced regions while respecting local cultures. Inspiring, mobilizing, and collaborating with communities to achieve their own health and economic goals, Global Brigades hosts medical clinics and economic development programs in Honduras, Panama, Ghana, Guatemala, Greece, and Belize. Our Oregon State chapter will be working in Guatemala during Winter Break, December 14-20, 2025. Join our brigade and help deliver a healthier future to underserved communities in the region. We meet Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in STAG 111. Scholarship & Financial Aid Opportunities

THIS WEEK! Goldwater Scholarship Panel Discussion
Are you a budding STEM researcher? The Goldwater Scholarship may be right for you! Join OSU Goldwater nominees and scholars will host a panel discussion on Fri. May 9, 11 am-12 pm, STAG 112 & Online to talk about this national scholarship opportunity that supports the work of students who wish to become career researchers. We’ll be talking about how Goldwater supports students in all STEM disciplines and what this scholarship can do for you. Our panelists will discuss how they got involved in research here at OSU, their tips and strategies for finding their passion and where they plan to go in the future. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship provides scholarships of $7,500 per year for up to two years for sophomores and juniors enrolled full-time in an undergraduate STEM degree. This session will be facilitated by National and Global Scholarships Advising. The National and Global Scholarships Advising Office supports all applicants for this scholarship and encourages budding researchers to apply.

Honors College Emergency Grant
The Honors College Emergency Grant supports students facing unexpected expenses, including housing, meals, course materials, healthcare, vehicle repairs, and travel for family emergencies. Grants are up to $500 per term, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Honors College differential tuition is not covered.

HC Experiential Learning Scholarship
The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. See here for additional information. Applications can be submitted through ScholarDollars and evaluated on a rolling basis.

Professional Development & Job Opportunities

NEW! Cross-Language and LLM-Based Code Validation for HPC Scientific Applications
A HC student is wanted for an interdisciplinary project which spans three areas of Computer Science: Software Engineering, High-Performance Computing, and AI/ML. The goal is to design and implement a framework that can automatically test or verify the correctness of HPC scientific applications whose code is either translated from one programming language to another or generated from natural language descriptions using Large Language Models (LLMs).

THIS WEEK! Become a student ambassador for the Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium
Oregon Space Grant will select up to four (4) undergraduate students to serve as the face and voice of OSGC and share NASA’s commitment to STEM education through public outreach events. The program is open to OSU students in a broad range of disciplines, including, but not limited to, communication, education, marketing, and traditional STEM fields like engineering, mathematics, earth sciences, chemistry, biology, food science, and computer science. Up to four awards of $7,500 per award will be awarded in the 2025-26 Student Ambassador program, contingent upon funding from NASA Office of STEM Engagement.

SHAB Applications Open
The Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB) is looking for new members for the 2025-2026 school year! SHAB is a team of undergraduate and graduate students of any major who regularly meet once a week for a one-year term. We work with Student Health Services (SHS) to advocate for the student body and ensure health services meet students’ needs. This is your opportunity to get involved in administrative processes, provide feedback on programs and services, and help shape a healthier OSU community. Lavender Celebration is Pride’s way of honoring graduates affiliated with the Pride Center. Those who sign up will be honored for their accomplishments and receive a certificate and stole. The event will take place on Thursday, June 12 from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Come to honor graduates in our community and sign up to participate if you are a graduate yourself! WEEKLY! International CommuniTea Hour
Come to SEC 112 every Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m. for a place of community for and with international students. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and snacks from around the world! Funded by ASOSU and Student Experinces and Enagement.Truckin’ Tuesdays at the Memorial Union
Truckin’ Tuesday is community event hosted by the Memorial Union Activities Team focused on bringing different types of foods to campus through food trucks! Most Tuesday’s there will be a variety of trucks next to the MU Quad open to students, staff, and the public. This is a chance for people of all ages on the OSU campus to try new foods, support local businesses, and add a little bit of sparkle to their Tuesdays.

The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. Visit their Textbook Lending Program website to see resources available at the BNC. Visit the BNC in-person at Champinefu Lodge to check out course materials.

The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. As a reminder, though you are only required to meet with your Honors College academic advisor once per year, feel free to meet with your HC academic advisor whenever you have questions. Honors College student learning space
The Honors College student learning space, the SLUG, opens Tuesday, September 24. Located in Learning Innovation Center 340, the SLUG offers students study spaces, snacks and free printing. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For the first weeks, there will be minor renovations in the SLUG.

“Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area.

The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:

Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday – noon to 6 p.m.
Sunday – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
