Have you ever wanted to submit your work to a literary arts journal? Now is your chance! The Palouse Review, an online Honors publication at Washington State University, is seeking Honors students who would like their work published in their upcoming editions. They publish a wide variety of original work by Honors students, including scholarship, creative writing, visual art, and music. UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity welcomes your research and creative submissions before June 1. UReCA is sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council, and is currently managed, edited and produced by a team of twenty-nine undergraduate students from each of the NCHC regions and a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends conversation with Rich Smith, ’85, on Wed. Feb. 12 from 4:00-4:50 p.m. PST in LInC 343 and over Zoom. Honors College Dean and Friends conversations are opportunities for honors students to connect with Oregon State University alumni and friends in an informal setting and learn more about professional pathways and issues. NEW! Dean and Friends Conversation – Careers in Education, from Classroom to Administration
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends conversation about careers in education, from classroom to administration, with Honors College alum Kristina Holton, ’04, on Wed Mar. 5, from 4-5 p.m. PST. Kristina received her H.B.S. in mathematics and has also received an M.S. in mathematics educations and an Ed.D. in community college leadership, all from Oregon State University. She began her careers as a math teacher and instructional coach in K-12 education and then shifted to teaching at the community college level. She has since transitioned into administration, and she is currently the Dean of Science, Engineering and Mathematics at Linn-Benton Community College. At his event, she will share her career journey and answer questions about teaching at both K-12 and college levels and about shifting from teaching to administration. Application Now Open for 2025 Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship
Applications are being accepted for the 2025 Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship! The scholarship honors and recognizes OSU undergraduates who are community engaged leaders actively involved in activities beyond course work and who have demonstrated that they are committed to advancing a more caring, equitable, and socially just OSU and/or local community. Apply via Scholar Dollars bySat. Feb. 15. Six (6) students will be awarded a one-time scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Funded Opportunity for Undergrads through Oregon Sea Grant
The Oregon Sea Grant Scholars Program is now accepting applications for the Summer Scholars Program, a paid 10-week program that places undergraduate students and students that graduated in the 2024-2025 academic year with a variety of Oregon based host organizations (Tribal, public agency, non-profit, non-governmental). Sites include in-person and remote opportunities. Students from around the country, and international students, are welcome to apply. Applications must be submitted by Mon.Feb. 17. Honors College Emergency Grant
The Honors College Emergency Grant supports students facing unexpected expenses, including housing, meals, course materials, healthcare, vehicle repairs, and travel for family emergencies. Grants are up to $500 per term, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Honors College differential tuition is not covered.

HC Experiential Learning Scholarship
The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. See here for additional information. Applications can be submitted through ScholarDollars and evaluated on a rolling basis.

NEW THIS WEEK! HC Student Position Opening – Thesis Resource Navigator
The Honors College is looking for two students to our team as Thesis Resource Navigators. Applicants must be active HC students in Winter 2025 and have completed Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the thesis and have a thesis mentor. This position is a paid position with expected 10 hours per week, hours varying on student availability. The position performs a variety of work that supports current OSU HC students to navigate the thesis process. Find the job posting here which will remain open until Fri. Feb. 7.

NEW! Become an HC Representative at the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting (MCORRP) Program
Through a generous gift by Dr. Kim Eagle (HC grad ’76), the Honors College is pleased to offer a paid internship with the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP). This summer internship program is a 10-week opportunity, starting in early June and concluding in August, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. The internship includes a stipend, as well as a housing and travel allowance. To apply students should be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and be a strong steward of OSU and the Honors College. Oregon Health and Science University Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program – Now Accepting Applications
OHSU PREP is a one-year, NIH-funded research intensive postbaccalaureate research program. The focus of OHSU PREP is to support the development of diverse postbac researchers in STEM and enhance their transition to a PhD program in biomedical research. Not only do we provide research experience and professional skill development, we also provide financial support in varying ways: A competitive research assistant salary and health benefits (approx. $39k/year); Relocation support up to $1000; Professional development funds to support graduate school application fees, professional society memberships, online courses, technology, registration and attendance to one national conference, etc. Additional information, including signing up for one of our upcoming information sessions, can be found on our website. OSU Student Energy Analyst Position
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy/technical analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-15 hrs/week) and during the summer (30-40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. These engineering analyses and improvement recommendations are compiled into a report and delivered to the client. University Legislative Scholars Applications Open
The University Legislative Scholars (ULS) program offers a year-long opportunity to engage with public policy at the state and federal levels. Students can join tuition-free or for two credits per term. Participants meet with legislators, learn about government careers, visit the State Capitol, and build connections with peers. Truckin’ Tuesdays at the Memorial Union
Truckin’ Tuesday is community event hosted by the Memorial Union Activities Team focused on bringing different types of foods to campus through food trucks! Most Tuesday’s there will be a variety of trucks next to the MU Quad open to students, staff, and the public. This is a chance for people of all ages on the OSU campus to try new foods, support local businesses, and add a little bit of sparkle to their Tuesdays.


Students: Borrow your Textbooks for Free!
The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. Visit their Textbook Lending Program website to see resources available at the BNC. Visit the BNC in-person at Champinefu Lodge to check out course materials.

Honors College Advising Resources
From guiding you through the thesis process, to monitoring and supporting your honors degree progress, your honors academic advising team is here to help! As a reminder, though you are only required to meet with your Honors College academic advisor once per year, feel free to meet with your HC academic advisor whenever you have questions. Below, we’ll leave you with some tips and resources that should be helpful over the coming terms:

Honors College student learning space
The Honors College student learning space, the SLUG, opens Tuesday, September 24. Located in Learning Innovation Center 340, the SLUG offers students study spaces, snacks and free printing. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For the first weeks, there will be minor renovations in the SLUG.

“Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area.

The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:

  • Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday – noon to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

These resources are available throughout the term.
