DEC Home / Share changes 2-7-2017

Tonight (2/7/2017) we will be making changes to the Division of Extended Campus (Comprised of Extended Campus, PACE, and Summer Session) home and shared layouts.

Home space will be moving from cn-home\outreach_home to dec.sig.oregonstate.edu\<Group>_Home, where <Group> is EC, PACE, or SummerSession

Shared Space will be moving from dec.sig.oregonstate.edu\ECampus and dec.sig.oregonstate.edu\PACE to a consolidated structure of dec.sig.oregonstate.edu\dec.

The TD ticket for any follow up issues on this change is 2291590.

Valley Library 4th Floor West New Core Migration

Vlib 4th floor (West) is moving to new core this evening! See the TD master ticket @ https://oregonstate.teamdynamix.com/TDNext/Apps/425/Tickets/TicketDet.aspx?TicketID=fBYS5BZTYRg_ for more details.

Telecommunications / Network Services is cutting over the West side of the Library 4th floor this evening (7pm – 6am is the outage window, though they expect to be done before midnight).

This is for the Extended Campus / PACE / CWS / SMS half of the 4th floor. From a network perspective, the floor is split in half along the hallway that runs from the front desk to the Drinkward conference room.

Units/devices should end up in the following security contexts:
Extended Campus – CN_IRS
PACE – CN_IRS
SMS – CN_IRS
Library – CN_IRS
CWS – CN_UnivAdmin
Printers – CN_Printers

At Extended Campus / PACE’s request, the two front desk printers and the 4943 Ricoh are being deployed to all Extended Campus / PACE users.

Ken and Steven are scheduled to be on site for the morning of the 20th, and this ticket can be used to link in any follow up items that come in to the call center. Tyler from Telecom will also be on standby in the event we need any ports patched or VLAN changes made.

Ballard New Core Status

We’re “complete” with the new core cutover for our customers in Ballard. As part of the building remodel, new core gear was installed in a new switch closet on the third floor, and is set up in parallel with the old core gear (new ports in all the offices, etc). The old core gear is scheduled to be turned off and removed sometime over the winter break. At this point, there are just a couple things left to do:

  • There are a couple ports that need to be patched in the switch closet by Telecom
  • Folks who have been out of the office with a laptop (or machines we were otherwise unable to get into with the customer there) will need to call in to get printers fixed.

The TD ticket with all of the printer info on the migration is #2291635 – if customers call in needing to have their printers fixed, this should be a quick thing over the phone. If we need to actually move someone to a new core port (e.g. they’re on 128.193.x.y space), that can be a standard field job if the customer isn’t comfortable moving to the new network jack (There are spare patch cables in the new switch closet, 328A)
