Today, I took tests on my life stress inventory, coping skills management, and the type A personality survey. I did this so that I could adequately prepare myself to compose this post about stress, my ability to handle stress, and how I will manage stress in my professional career. On the life stress inventory, I scored a one hundred and ninety-six. According to The Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Inventory this is a higher level of stress. I think that could mean that I have a level of stress that I need to work to manage. (Holmes-Rahe Stress Inventory) But, I don’t think that I have a uniquely high level of stress. Anyhow, On the stress coping test I scored a sixty-four for problem-focused coping. According to Psychology Today, problem-focused coping is optimal for controllable situations but not good for uncontrollable situations. (Coping & Stress Management Skills Test) For the type A Personality Test I scored a fifty for impatience and irritability. Psychology today states that this I am moderately impatient and hostile. (Type A personality test)
All this information about stress, my ability to cope with stress, and my levels of impatience and irritability tells me that I need to make sure that I pay attention to my emotions and factors that may be driving me to feel the way I do at a given time. I think that I need to do this so that I can take a rational approach to issues that I will encounter in my future career.
