In their paper entitled “Epidemiology of Helicobacter pylori Infection”, Leonardo H Eusebi, Rocco Zagari, and Franco Bazzoli assert that the prevalence of H. pylori is still high in most countries and that low socioeconomic conditions are the most important risk factor for H. pylori infection. Eusebi, Zagari, and Bazolli provide evidence by describing how the prevalence of H. pylori is often higher in low-income countries, and that immigrants from these countries have a high chance of having H. pylori in their gut. The purpose of this research article is to describe the epidemiology and prevalence of the bacterium in order to understand what populations are more likely to host the bacteria. Eusebi, Zagari, and Bazzoli establish a relationship with academics who are also researching and analyzing the epidemiology of H. pylori and attempting to educate themselves about the risk factors for Helicobacter pylori infection.
