Black Lives Matter in Academic Spaces – Three Lessons in Critical Literacy

Oregon State CLA presents a talk by Dr. Vershawn Ashanti Young, a linguistic researcher and author, on code-switching and black language appropriation in academia. The talk is virtual and public, next Thursday (Feb 24th) from 12pm – 1:30pm. Several PhIS members are attending and we want to encourage as many people as possible to come too! If you can’t make this event, there are many events organized by various OSU organizations that are acknowledging and celebrating Black History Month – we encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities to learn and reflect.
