Highlights

Men’s Soccer Intern

CPHHS really likes to emphasize the importance of experiential learning. Lucky for students, the men’s soccer program at OSU is looking for an intern starting in January 2021. This is an opportunity to be immersed in a high-level professional sport environment working with top tier athletes. A successful candidate will understand no job is too big or too small. Roles & responsibilities include managing video equipment, managing training equipment (balls, vests, cones), and assist in recording specific metrics during training sessions. The qualifications include a preferred GPA of 3.0+, a sophomore or junior, and excellent organization skills. This is an unpaid position, but the selected intern will be eligible for athlete priority
registration to select classes before general students. This helps ensure classes & class times are optimal for their schedule & academic plan. If you want to apply, send your resume to Alex Guyer.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

This year, the College of Business is offering free tax preparation services for low to middle-class individuals and families (<$72,000). This includes students, staff, faculty, and community members. Services are available by appointment only from February 1 – March 6. Participants will schedule an initial phone or Zoom interview appointment to confirm they qualify, ensure they have their tax documents, and go over intake forms. Tax document drop-off or upload appointments will be scheduled after that with tax preparation taking place virtually upon documents being received. To learn more about eligibility or register for an appointment, click here or call 541-737-7962. Assistance is also available in Spanish. If you have any questions, call the number above or email vita.cob@oregonstate.edu.

Volunteering with COVID Vaccine Distribution

Looking for a way to get more involved with the current state of the world? Benton County actually has a website where people can sign up to volunteer to help with Vaccine Distribution Clinics. If most of the slots are already filled, you can continue to check back in to see what opportunities are available.  You also have the opportunity to email the Benton County volunteer coordinators with your interest in volunteering for future events. In addition, Samaritan Health Services also has a COVID vaccination clinic volunteer page

Marketing Project to Help Children Read

Hey CPHHS students, looking for a way to get some volunteer hours? On Friday, Feb. 26, SMART Reading — the statewide children’s literacy nonprofit — is holding a virtual fundraiser, Oregon Reads Aloud. This will be a full day of storytelling for children, featuring special guests from around the state. OSU has raised $11 compared to UO’s $500. If you want to earn some volunteer hours, help SMART promote OSU’s team. Email Jean Chen about this marketing project for this friendly Beavers vs. Ducks competition!

It’s about that time Beavs; time to start thinking about any potential internships you might be interested in completing during your time at OSU! Internships are a great way to help you gain real-world experience in your career field before going out into the real world. Every major in the CPHHS has a class designed to help students get internships during their time here. Academic Year 2021-2022 Scholarships

Are you looking for scholarships to help pay for your tuition and fees next school year? This year, you will be able to search for both OSU scholarships and external (non-OSU) scholarships using ScholarDollars. The application is open now and will close February 15, 2021 for the College of Public Health and Human Sciences.  Start your application now (or during the winter break), and don’t wait until the last minute! All submitted CPHHS applications will be carefully reviewed by a committee of CPHHS faculty members across the college, and once your application is submitted, you won’t be able to edit it. Additionally, if you are an AY20-21 CPHHS scholarship recipient, your scholarship award(s) is not renewable, so we encourage everyone to apply for the AY21-22 scholarships. If you have any questions regarding the CPHHS undergraduate scholarships, please feel free to email our scholarship coordinator, Niddy Lindsley.
