Job Opportunity: Youth Lacrosse Coach

Do you have experience with the great sport of Lacrosse?  Are you willing to share that knowledge with the youth of Corvallis and become a volunteer coach?  The Corvallis Parks & Recreation department normally runs a full youth lacrosse program with 2 – 4 boys teams and one girls team. This year, they would like to offer a smaller program playing with Eugene and Salem utilizing the Flex 6 rules.  Before the program can open, they need to know if they have coaches who are willing, and able, to help from early April – early June.  There are two 90 minute practices each week on Monday and Friday from 4:30 – 6:00 (practice days can be flexible if needed) and then games on Saturdays in Corvallis, Eugene, and Salem.  No coaching experience is required.  If you have the knowledge, the time, and the desire, they can turn you into a great coach. If you’re interested, reach out to Robert Thornberg.

Benton County Job Opportunity

University of Sydney Virtual Study Abroad

Due to the uncertainties arising from the COVID-19 Pandemic, the University of Sydney has made the decision to suspend all July and Semester 2 programs. Although the in-person program has been suspended for international students who are offshore, they still plan to offer a virtual semester program for inbound students in Semester 2. The virtual program will include options for a full semester study load as well as a partial study load featuring popular Australia-themed units. More information will become available in the coming weeks, but for now you can view check out this video depicting a day in the life of a virtual exchange student from last semester. They are also offering a credit-bearing Virtual Internship Program this June/July. Students will intern with one of their many industry partners, gain international work experience, and network with Australian students. The program will include a series of non-compulsory seminars on Australian History, Sport & Culture and a range of social events, including vegemite tasting! The dates for this would be May 31- July 9; you can find out more at one of the information sessions here.

Men’s Soccer Intern

CPHHS really likes to emphasize the importance of experiential learning. Lucky for students, the men’s soccer program at OSU is looking for an intern starting in January 2021. This is an opportunity to be immersed in a high-level professional sport environment working with top tier athletes. A successful candidate will understand no job is too big or too small. Roles & responsibilities include managing video equipment, managing training equipment (balls, vests, cones), and assist in recording specific metrics during training sessions. The qualifications include a preferred GPA of 3.0+, a sophomore or junior, and excellent organization skills. This is an unpaid position, but the selected intern will be eligible for athlete priority
registration to select classes before general students. This helps ensure classes & class times are optimal for their schedule & academic plan. If you want to apply, send your resume to Alex Guyer.
