Members of the JSB Planning committee met with the furniture vendor, SmithCFI, at their Portland showroom in early February.  Committee members were able to see the different component options in an actual use setting and spent several hours discussing layouts and IS’ needs with the vendor.  The result of that meeting will be the first draft of a furniture layout and an estimated cost.  We do not have a timeline for the delivery of this information, but expect to receive it soon.  The next step is to ensure the plan fits within the budget set aside for this part of the project.

In December the committee met with Facilities contractors to choose colors and finishes for the new spaces.  A design board that shows samples of what was chosen for flooring, paint, wallcovering, and kitchen cabinet/countertop will be on display in the hallway outside Milne 209 from 2/23 through 2/27 and in the Kerr B211 break room from until 3/2 through 3/6.  Please take time to come by and see it.

The committee has started the detail planning for the building – scheduling the movers, building operations (mail, printers, copiers, etc.), building access, conference room scheduling, and other such details.  Additional resources will likely be needed to cover the myriad of things that have to be done to meet our move in date of late May.  The committee invites anyone interested in being part of the process to volunteer.  Please contact one of the a committee members if you wish to help.

General information regarding the move and the JSB can be found at http://blogs.oregonstate.edu/ismove/  The committee will be sending emails on a regular basis and updating the site to keep you informed.
