NEW! Coffee with the OSU Deans
We are excited for you to join us on Wednesday, April 3rd at 4 p.m. for Coffee with the OSU Deans on the 3rd floor of the LInC. We are providing an opportunity for you to get to know college deans and students from across campus. Meet OSU’s academic leaders, learn about opportunities in your college, and connect with other honors students in your college and major. NEW! Change to Honors Course Evaluations
Course evaluations help the Honors College to guide curriculum decisions and to add variety from different disciplines. The OSU Student Learning Experience Surveys (SLEs) now include a block of four questions specific to honors courses. Please take the time to fill out the entire SLE for all your honors classes. Links to the SLE are sent to your ONID email and automatically added to Canvas course sites.

NEW! Honors Ecampus Course Offerings
Be sure to check out the HC Ecampus courses for spring term, open to Corvallis students when Phase 2 of registration begins (9:30 PM on Thursday, March 14 for Honors College). Tuition rates for Ecampus are different from on-campus courses—if you’re an out-of-state student, Ecampus might be a good deal for you! Check here for more information. Courses include: CS 362H Software Engineering II, FILM 145H Intro to Film Studies: 1968-1999, PHL/REL 444H Biomedical Ethics, PSY 202H General Psychology, WR 227HZ Technical Writing, and some great colloquia options.

NEW! Positions Open for START Assistants This Summer
The Honors College is accepting applications for 6 in person START Assistants for this coming summer. START Assistants will welcome and engage with incoming students and help connect students with academic advisors both in person and on Zoom. They will also assist with course registration, and data tracking as needed. Applications will remain open until April 5th or until the position is filled. NEW! Dean and Friends Lunch on Preparing for a Career in Healthcare
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends Lunch conversation on Preparing for a Career in Healthcare with Dr. Robert Bentley, ’78, on Wednesday, April 3 from 12-12:50 p.m. in MU 211. Dr. Bentley, a graduate of the honors program at Oregon State in microbiology, will offer insights into different medical career pathways, preparing for a career in medicine and medical school admissions processes, as well as answer questions. NEW! How the Court System Affects You More than You Think – A Dean and Friends Lunch Conversation with Judge Mary Deits Rousseau (rescheduled event)
All Honors College students are invited to a special Dean and Friends lunch conversation with Judge Mary Deits Rousseau on “How the Court System Affects You More than You Think” on Friday, April 12th from noon-12:50 p.m. in LInC 345. Judge Rousseau was named an Honors College Alumni Fellow by the Oregon State University Alumni Association in 2023 and is a member of the Honors College Board of Regents, the college’s leadership advisory group. After graduating from the honors program at Oregon State in 1971, she became the second woman to serve on the Oregon Court of Appeals and one of the first in the country to be a Chief Judge of a state Court of Appeals. At this discussion, she’ll share reflections on how the courts affect us all in our everyday lives and how the role of the courts is changing. She’ll also answer questions about her own career path and experiences. Sign up to attend by emailing Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu. Lunch will be provided and space is limited. This event was originally scheduled in January but was delayed due to university cancellations.

Student Position Opening – Undergraduate Media Assistant: Instagram and Tiktok Editor
The Honors College is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to join our team as a Student Media Assistant to manage the HC Instagram and TikTok account. This is a part-time position with approximately 10 hours per week. Work hours can be flexible to accommodate a student schedule. Scholarship & Financial Aid Opportunities

THIS WEEK! HC Differential Tuition Scholarship
The HC Differential Tuition Scholarship application will be opening onFriday, March 15th and will remain open until Tuesday, April 16th. All current HC students are eligible to apply. This scholarship will cover all or part of the Honors Differential tuition. Please apply through ScholarDollars.

HC International Program Scholarship
Honors College students with financial need can apply for a scholarship of up to $1,000 in support of participation in HC sponsored and planned international opportunities (France, Nepal, Romania and London in 2024). Funds are limited, and awards will be made based on financial need and availability of funds. Incoming first year students are eligible to apply for this scholarship as well. Apply here by March 29.

HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.

HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

Professional Development & Job Opportunities

THIS WEEK! 2024-2025 PRAx Student Fellowships
This one-year fellowship offers Oregon State graduate and advanced undergraduate students the opportunity to develop an interdisciplinary creative or journalistic project connected with OSU research. Fellows will be awarded $1,000, engage in ongoing networking and professional development with mentors and present their projects in a public exhibition. Visit the PRAx Student Fellowship opportunity page for info about each of the four tracks, eligibility, and how to apply. Interested in funded research opportunities with the Oregon Wine Research Institute? They are looking for students in majors related to enology, viticulture, food science, horticulture, plant science, biochemistry, engineering, economics, environmental science, or an agricultural/environmental field of study. Application period closes March 15. College of Agricultural Science Undergraduate Research
The College of Ag is currently accepting applications for the Continuing Researcher Support Program. This program provides up to $1700 to undergraduate students with prior research experience who are seeking support to conduct a semi-independent research project with a College of AgSci faculty member. Projects can be conducted in summer term ($700 award), academic year (fall, winter, spring – $1000 award), or full year ($1700 award). The deadline to apply is April 12. Questions? Summer Internship – Construction Management
Chevron has an opening for a summer Facilities Engineering Construction Management Intern. This position is available to students pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Construction Management. NEW! Beaver Freezer Triathlon Volunteering Opportunity 
On Saturday, Apr. 20, the Oregon State Triathlon Club is hosting the Beaver Freezer Triathlon in front of Dixon Recreation Center! To make this race run smoothly, we need as many volunteers as possible. That means that we need YOU! We have many opportunities for volunteers and no experience is required. Anyone is welcome! If you volunteer, you will get free food, a free shirt, and free gratitude from our coordinators! The Basic Needs Center is expanding their free Textbook Lending Library and invites students experiencing financial barriers to request up to three books for them to purchase. The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. HC Resources

The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. HC Study Groups
Need a way to deepen your understanding of course material, discuss challenging concepts and study for upcoming exams and assignments with your fellow Beavs? Sign up for the fall term HC study groups! Study groups are a great way to receive extra academic support in any of your courses. If you would like to participate in fall term HC study groups, please email bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu.

“Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:

  • Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
  • Friday – 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday – noon- 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday – 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

These resources are available throughout the term.
