HCSA will be selling Crumbl Cookies on Wednesday,April 26 from 2-5 p.m. in the SLUG to raise money for DAM Proud Day. Dam proud day helps “make an OSU education accessible to all learners and ensure all OSU students thrive; create a vibrant campus community; and further OSU’s impact on communities in Oregon and around the world.” Bring ALL of your friends. HCSA Discussion about Equity in the Field of Computer Science
Join the Honors College Student Association for an engaging discussion-style event about the challenges of equity in the evolving field of computer science. We will delve into various topics such as the potential risks of machine learning to encode harmful stereotypes, unequal representation in computer science and data privacy. We are joined by Puja Agrawal and Andrew Anderson, two graduate students who are doing research in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Food and beverages will be provided. NEW! Stage 3 Studio Dates
Have a thesis mentor but need an extra nudge completing and submitting your thesis proposal? Befuddled by the thesis proposal, agreement or timeline? Need some dedicated time to work on you proposal? Drop by for a brief overview of the proposal process, get your questions answered and take advantage of the time to receive guidance, consult, write, and learn from your peers. Bring your ideas, questions, and, if available, a draft of your proposal (if available). Stop by on Tuesday, May 16 in LInC 350 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Your adventure abroad starts here! Join National and Global Scholarships Advising to learn more about the Fulbright US Student Program. The Fulbright US Student Program sponsors US citizens who have earned a bachelor’s degree to go abroad to study, research, or teach English in a selection of over 140 different countries. Design a research project, complete graduate study in a subject of your choice, propose an art or creative project, or teach English in a K-12 or university classroom in a country of your choice. National and Global Scholarships Advising will hold a free information session on Thursday, April 27 from 4-5 p.m. in LInC 345.
UPCOMING DEADLINE! MSI Student Awards 2023
The Marine Studies Initiative would like to recognize and reward Oregon State undergraduates who demonstrate outstanding scholarship and pursuits consistent with the vision and mission of MSI. Awards (up to $500) can cover expenses such as travel costs, books, supplies, and memberships to online academic software and field housing such as summer course housing at Hatfield Marine Science Center. Roundhouse Foundation Marine Studies Program Innovation Lab Scholarship and Internship Fund
The Roundhouse Foundation Marine Studies Innovation Lab Scholarship supports Oregon State University undergraduate students in their second year or more of study who are participating in a paid internship with the Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) Innovation Lab (iLab) in Newport, Oregon. There are up to three awards of $18,640 given to scholars who qualify. Students must submit their application through OSU ScholarDollars. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 1. SNAP Outreach at the BNC
Students may be eligible for $234 a month in grocery funds! SNAP is a federal nutrition benefits program and the Basic Needs Center Center at Oregon State assists with applications! For more information visit the SNAP link here.
HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

NEW/ TOMORROW! Health Professions Fair
Admissions representatives from over 70 health professions schools in Oregon and across the country are attending the fair and eager to meet OSU students. The fair will be open on Tuesday, April 25 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the MU Ballroom. Programs represented include medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, physician assistant, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, naturopathic medicine, biomedical sciences, occupational therapy, counseling, psychology, chiropractic, and more! NEW! Present Research or Creative Works at the CUE Showcase
The Office of URSA is excited to announce that registration for OSU’s 2023 Celebrating Undergraduate Excellence (CUE) is now open! CUE is an annual showcase for OSU undergraduates to present their research and creative projects to the OSU community. Students from all academic disciplines, in all years of study, and at all stages of research or creative work are invited to present a research poster on Thursday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the MU Ballroom. NEW! NickelBlock Forecasting Remote Internship Opportunities
NickelBlock Forecasting is a small company that publicly serves the central Gulf Coast with daily weather forecasts and an app. This is a remote internship focusing on Python development, HTML/PHP/ web development and App development. Interns have historically spent between 10 and 15 hours per week working on projects and helping out with brainstorming. Interns will be granted a $300 ‘scholarship’ at the end of the summer to help with books in the fall. While our company doesn’t have much money, we want to help where we can. Include in your cover letter why you are interested in intern with NickelBlock Forecasting, and what experience you have (either classwork or outside of class) with Python, HTML, or App Development. NEW! Become a Beaver Connect Peer Mentor
Beaver Connect is recruiting Peer Mentors for the 2023-2024 academic year. Peer Mentors will help connect new-to-OSU students, peers, and faculty members in an effort to ease the student transition to college. Students are placed on teams of up to 4 new-to-OSU students, 1 peer mentor, and 1 faculty member for mentorship, guidance, and community building in their first year at OSU. The Peer Mentor job application is currently open until Monday, May 15!
UPCOMING DEADLINE! HC On-Campus Summer Job Opportunity
Honors College student START assistants help facilitate academic advising and registration during START sessions throughout the summer. START assistants will welcome and engage with incoming students, help students connect with academic advisors both in person and through Zoom. Apply now for a summer Job Shadow position and get a real-life look at a potential career path! Job shadows are a free but unpaid experience for students to explore an industry, organization or specific position. These experiences can be a full-day or half-day, held in-person or virtually. Become an Academics for Student Athletes Tutor
Academics for Student Athletes has some openings for tutors this upcoming term. These are paid on-campus positions that offer flexible schedules. Tutor applicants must be Sophomore standing and hold an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. Most tutoring will be performed in-person during Spring term, but hybrid options are available. Student Research Assistant and Student Programmer Job Opportunities
The student research assistant’s primary duties consist of conducting literary research, synthesizing literature, creating annotated bibliographies, preparing manuscripts, and attending weekly meetings. Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics is preferred. The student programmer will program an app prototype for easy integration into Canvas, help create instructional videos, and provide research support. Skills preferred are knowledge of HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, and python. Both jobs are an average of 20 hours a week for the 23-24 academic year. Soundbox Six invites you to submit intermedia, sound, text, music, radio art, video art, performance-art, social media art, digital installations to the festival’s 2023 open call. Submissions are open to OSU Students, Faculty, Alumni, and the General Public. Please submit a link to your work and fill out the submission form by midnight on Sunday, April 30. Digital and performance works should be no longer than 10 minutes, and you must provide an unlisted YouTube link that gives us permission to view and download the work. Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU App
Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU is an app that gives all OSU students, including Ecampus students, 24/7 access by text or phone with a licensed mental health counselor (MySSP stands for “My Student Support Program”). The app makes it easy to schedule short-term counseling appointments with the same ongoing counselor and provides educational materials covering mental health topics. Students can communicate with a counselor in five different languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish or English); additional language options are available upon request. The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy.
