THIS WEEK! HCSA Meeting at Panda Express
On Thursday, February 23 the HCSA meeting will be held at the Panda Express in the MU. This is in an effort to raise money for the Linn Benton Food Drive! If you purchase Panda Express between 5-8 p.m. 10% of the proceeds will go to the food drive!
THIS WEEK! HCSA Food Drive Volunteer Opportunity
Members of HCSA will be putting out bags in the community in order to collect donations for the food drive! Bags will be picked up this Saturday, February 25 at 9:30 a.m. It’s no fret if you don’t have a car, there will be drivers! Come help collect bags! ALL OF FEBRUARY! HCSA/Linn-Benton Food Share Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in helping the Honors College Student Association raise money and collect food to donate to the Linn-Benton Food Share? Throughout the month of February, HCSA will be tabling on weekends at the Grocery Outlet in Corvallis, and we need plenty of help! We’re very flexible with scheduling and it’s a great way to get some volunteering hours in. If you’re interested sign up here! If none of the times work for you, there are a number of other ways to support the food drive, including donating non-perishables to collection boxes across campus or participating in our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. You can drop-in for academic advising every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., in-person and online (LINC 450/ Zoom). Week 7 will have an extra drop-in day on Thursday from 11:30-1:30.

DEADLINE THIS WEEK! Become an HC Representative at the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program
Through a generous gift by Dr. Kim Eagle (HC grad ’76), the Honors College is pleased to offer a paid internship with the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP). This summer internship program is a 10-week opportunity, starting in early June and concluding in August, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. More information can be found here. The internship includes a stipend, as well as a housing and travel allowance. To apply students should be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, and be a strong steward of OSU and the Honors College. Through classes and activities around the city, you’ll learn about London in the different time periods and from a variety of perspectives with faculty in liberal arts, and engineering. SNAP Outreach at the BNC
Students may be eligible for $234 a month in grocery funds! SNAP is a federal nutrition benefits program, and the Basic Needs Center Center at Oregon State assists with applications! For more information visit the SNAP link here.
HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

MSI Summer 2023 Internships
The Marine Studies Initiative (MSI) office is pleased to offer a variety of internships every year, focusing on interdisciplinary topics of the ocean and coasts. View our 2023 Internships below and learn more here. These are 10 weeks in length, starting June 20, 2023, and ending August 25, 2023. Start and end dates may slightly vary, depending on the internship.

Summer group housing is provided. Summer Internships are full-time commitments, typically 40 hours per week. Interns will receive compensation as an Oregon State University hourly student worker. The Justice Challenge
Join honors students from universities across the United States in exploring the complex issues around food justice in the 2023-2024 academic year. Each student will enroll in an opening online 1-day workshop, an eight-week online colloquium, and a 1-day concluding online conference. In addition, each student shall participate in at least one of three signature experiences: a Design Challenge (semester-long course, in-person); a Hackathon (2-day, in person or online); or a Field Course (1 week, in-person). Stream Ecology Field Technician – Job Opportunity
We are seeking 4 undergraduate student technicians for field work surveying streams in the Oregon Coast Range this summer. This is a full time position working up to 40 hours a week. 2023-24 Art-Sci Student Fellowship
This fellowship offers students the opportunity to explore the intersection of two disciplines or ways of looking at the world. During the year-long fellowship, students will develop a creative project informed by active engagement with research at OSU, choosing between four tracks: – Art+Science
– Art+Engineering
– Humanities+Science
– Film+Science
Fellows will be awarded $1,000, ongoing networking opportunities, mentorship, and be eligible to apply for a residency at the Cabin at Shotpouch Creek to work on their project. This opportunity is available to graduate students and upper-division undergraduate students. Applications due by Friday March 17.

Conference Opportunity for Science Majors
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS-PD) has an annual conference that is open to undergraduate students. This year they are partnering with the Northwest Scientific Association for a joint conference that will be held at Western Washington University (Bellingham, WA) from Tuesday, March 21 until Friday, March 24, with a remote option. Academics for Student Athletes are now Hiring Tutors!
ASA is now hiring tutors for winter 2023. These are paid on-campus positions that offer flexible schedules. They are also a wonderful opportunity to use the content knowledge you have gained in the classroom, while also helping fellow students better gain subject mastery, and the organizational skills needed to excel at OSU. Tutor applicants must be sophomore standing and hold an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. Most tutoring will be performed in-person during winter term, but hybrid options are available. We are looking for volunteer Undergraduate Research Assistants who are interested in working with young children in school settings and learning about research and education in the real world. We are testing test the efficacy of our Red Light, Purple Light (RLPL) movement and music self-regulation intervention in preschool children. More on RLPL can be found here.

Black History Month is an annual national celebration that calls attention toward Black achievement and excellence in society. Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU App
Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU is an app that gives all OSU students, including Ecampus students, 24/7 access by text or phone with a licensed mental health counselor (MySSP stands for “My Student Support Program”). The app makes it easy to schedule short-term counseling appointments with the same ongoing counselor and provides educational materials covering mental health topics. Students can communicate with a counselor in five different languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish or English); additional language options are available upon request. Alternative Spring Break
Looking for a transformative experience this coming Spring Break?! Alternative Break offers weeklong service-learning programs traveling to Washington, Southern Oregon, and California during OSU’s spring break in March! During these multi-day, overnight programs, groups of 10-12 students immerse themselves in one of three Pacific Northwest communities to learn its historical, cultural, and political background. Students engage in a variety of direct service projects, educational conversations and presentations, and reflective dialogue with leaders and change-makers in their respective communities.
There are three program locations:

The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. “Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area.
