The Klamath Basin Research & Extension Center (KBREC) is a trusted resource for research and education working cooperatively with the communities of Klamath County resulting in healthy people, economies and environments.

On Monday July 28 join Isaiah, Jeremiah and OSU President Ed Ray for the 100 Year Extension Anniversary Celebration Open House Field Day.

Field Day Events

• Field Tour (hay rides)-Crop Research currently being done on our 86 acre research site.
• Sprouting Seeds – Kids can join in the fun of planting with this fun activity.
• Pin the Parts on the Livestock – Kids get the chance to take a hands on approach to learning the various parts of beef, swine and sheep by pinning the parts on the paper livestock.
• Small Livestock Interaction – Come pet and interact with various breeds of small livestock/animals.
• Obstacle Course – Hula hoops, hay bale jumping, yoga, potato sack hop and more! Come do it all or pick your favorites!
• Plant Clinic – Bring your gardening questions and we’ll answer them.
• Open Campus – Learn about opportunities available to get your Bachelor’s Degree from OSU locally.
• Potato Variety Development and Cultural Management – Come learn about the research being done on various varieties of potatoes as well as how to manage your own potatoes.
• Tasting tables -Taste healthy snacks featuring recipes from FoodHero.org.
• 4-H – Come learn about the various clubs that our OSU KBREC 4-H program has to offer.
• Beef Activity Booth – Come learn all about beef and enjoy a hands on activity as well.
• Swine…Past to Present – Come learn about show pigs past to present.
• Health Extension Run – Join in on the “Health Extension Run” that is covering over 1675 miles of Oregon. Runners Isaiah and Jeremiah will join local runners at the corner of Joe Wright Rd and Washburn Way at 4:00 pm.
• 4:15 – Welcoming Address by OSU President Edward Ray
• Special Agronomy Field Tour– 5-6pm for those interested in a more in depth tour of the current Agronomy Research happening at KBREC.
