Nearly two weeks of my last term here at OSU has come to an end. In which time I have been assigned to a group and fortunately with the ones that I had asked to be teamed with and we get to work on our number one project pick! Still in the infancy stages of the project with planning and such so not a lot to report on in that manner.
In other news with my job a new Software Engineer (just over a month) I have been assigned to help with implementing a feature in a new application my company is developing. Another gentlemen and I are working to provide “Apache Superset” ( https://superset.apache.org/ ) as a tool for our users to be able to generate reports and have emailed to them on a schedule. Superset is referred to as a Business Intelligence (BI) tool.
I am getting to work with Python for the first time on web development. Also get some exposure to AWS Redshift in which the data is being stored that our users will be accessing. The actual implementation is more DockerFile, docker-composure.yml, and superset_config.py work which is nice but its more configuration than anything. Which is still difficult for it is unfamiliar to myself or the gentlemen I am working with and we don’t have any one we can consult with on the matter since Apache Superset was just taken through a proof of concept with my company. So there are challenges there for sure; a lot of documentation referring and scouring the web for any further incite.
In which I feel as if OSU has helped prepared me for such due to this program being solely online and essentially self-taught. It has helped provide me with the schools to utilize all possible resources.
With next weeks post I will be able to change gears and start to dive into the project my team will be working on for by that point the planning will be done and it will be time to implement!
