Sahay et al. received a 5-year R01 grant from National Institutes of Health

Dr. Gaurav Sahay, an assistant professor of Drug Delivery and Nanotherapeutics in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences based on our Portland campus, received a 5-year, $3.3 million R01 grant from National Institutes of Health. Sahay’s project, “Nanoparticle-based mRNA delivery for treatment of cystic fibrosis,” is to develop a novel, inhalable system capable of delivering mRNA to repair the underlying genetic defect in all patients suffering from cystic fibrosis. Dr. Sahay is the principal investigator on this project in collaboration with Dr. Kevin McDonald, a physician-scientist at Oregon Health & Sciences University who specializes in treating patients with cystic fibrosis. Sahay’s work has also been supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and industry partners.
