Coastal Counties Woodland Management Webinar Series – Fall 2021 (Date and time to be announced)
This shortcourse is offered by Oregon State University’s Forestry and Natural Resources (FNR) Extension agents serving western Oregon. During this course we will address woodland conditions of western Oregon and add regional flavor according to the Counties served by the FNR agents hosting each shortcourse in their region.
This seven-session course is ideal for people who are new to taking care of a woodland or forested property. The class provides a broad introduction to woodland types, tending practices, and terminology to help you take care of your property and get things done.
Here is a schedule from the Fall 2020 webinar series, we anticipate that Fall 2021 will be similar, although the exact order of topics may be adjusted.
Class 1 : Getting to know your property: trees and forests to know on the Oregon Coast
Class 2 : Getting to know your property: assessing your site and your goals
Class 3 : What’s going on in your woods: wildlife use of forests
Class 4 : What’s going on in your woods: forest health
Class 5 : Taking care of your woods: management techniques including planting, weed control
Class 6 : Taking care of your woods: tending you woods, thinning and marketing wood.
Class 7 : Getting it done: laws and regulations, fire preparedness
