We are hiring a postdoc to join The Coastal Boundary Dynamics Research Group at Oregon State University with Dr. Meagan Wengrove. The postdoc will join an expanding program on oceanographic applications for Distributed Fiber-optic Sensing (DFOS) and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS). The latest project is focused on understanding the relationships between seabed properties, hydrodynamic signals, and recorded strain in the nearshore. The research will involve laboratory data collection and analysis with a wide range of applications to distributed fiber-optic sensing of hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics. Get in touch directly with Dr. Meagan Wengrove if you are interested in applying (Meagan.Wengrove@oregonstate.edu).

Prerequisites:

  • A Ph.D. in Physics, Oceanography, Geosciences, Computational Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Experience with one or more of the following topics: nearshore processes, environmental fluid mechanics, sediment dynamics, COMSOL modeling, mechanical engineering, DFOS or DAS, optical physics, ocean acoustics, geotechnical sediment properties.
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to work as part of a scientifically diverse team.
