This program would be implemented and administered using both a website interface and a mobile app interface. Since it is meant to help out those who have less time and money for eating healthy meals, both the website and the mobile app will accommodate by being free to access and use. These will be as user-friendly as possible, and the mobile app’s user interface would be designed for devices such as smartphones or tablets. The program will offer two services: a service that will find and recommend food and recipes for healthy meals, and an option to upload recipes and information about what is offered at local stores. People who want to use the food-finding service will only need to enter the website or download the app to access it. When they first use it, they can choose to either enter their location manually or have the website or app use the user’s network or device location automatically. This preference will be saved and can be changed at any time. The service would use the given location to return suggestions based on their area, which the users can browse through to find and choose healthy meal options.

Users who want to upload recipes or store information will need to create an account before proceeding. Any user with an account may upvote or downvote recipes that have been publicly uploaded by others, depending on their accuracy and usefulness. The number of upvotes minus the number of downvotes will be used to represent a recipe’s “score”, which is how results in a user’s area will be filtered. Users with accounts can also report inaccurate information for review. During the program’s initial launch, it will at first be available to anyone with reliable internet access. At some time after this, depending on the demand for the service, there could be plans to give access to those without internet access or devices that can run this service, such as through a stationary kiosk set up in central areas in large cities.

  1. How would you plan on verifying the authenticity and quality of recipes uploaded? Will you filter recipes based on their success?
