How is it made?
The current prototype of the wearable rape prevention device relies on 3D printing with a bio-friendly flexible filament with another filament for support. It currently takes about 20g of material per print.
The device is currently designed for a 3d printer with two nozzles for different filaments, with support filaments being a standard filament (PLA) while the main filament is TPU for flexibility. The particular type of TPU filament would be Texin, which is bio-compatible according to Discover Why Polymers Like Texin® Change the World. The exact infill percentages remain to be tested.
The latest model is available here.
Recommendations for editing this post:
1. p 1. I would leave out What is it, and just use a name, such as “Wearable Rape Prevention Device”.
2. Instead of “The latest model is available here.” I recommend embedding a screenshot of the 3D model. Do you need help making a cropped screenshot? Also consider making an animated .gif that shows it while zooming and panning around the 3D space.
3. I think the How does it Work heading and paragraph should go on the first page.
Thank you for the suggestions! I have made the changes to the page you have outlined.
What does TPU mean? Maybe explain it?
TPU stands for Thermoplastic Polyurethane, but that’s not incredibly relevant given that the exact type of filament we would use is named and linked to. Thank you for the suggestion!
