HIGHLIGHTS

National Collegiate Research Conference (NCRC)

  • Dates and times conference held: January 21-23, 2022
  • Large-scale forum held annually at Harvard University (tentative virtual due to COVID)
    • Most accomplished undergraduate students convene to share their research in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences
  • Goal: provide student researchers w/ opportunity to hear from world’s leading authorities in academia, policy, and industry
  • Applications close on December 1st, 2021 by 8:59 PST

Virtual Peace Corps Application Workshop

  • Date and time: October 13, 2021 @ 3:00pm (today!)
  • Learn how to browse Volunteer openings, find the right program, and strengthen your application

Research Ready! Workshop on Undergraduate Research

  • Date and time: October 21, 2021 @ 5pm in Milam Hall room 318
  • Learn steps to getting involved in research or creative work
  • Will show students how to identify a faculty mentor and share other resources available for emerging student researchers

Academic Success Workshops

  • Concentration, Distraction & Effective Study Workshop: October 18th @ 12 PM & October 19th @ 6 PM
  • More workshops to come to offer an opportunity for students to identify new tools, strategies and skills to bring into their academic practices and processes

Student Role on OSU’s University Budget Committee

  • Paid opportunity for 2 students to be a part of OSU’s tuition setting process
    • Stipend or hourly
  • Commitment: 1.5 hour/2 weeks until March March and then 1 meeting/month

Foster Families at Every Child Linn Benton

  • DHS-affiliated organization supporting foster families
  • Monthly Foster Parent Night Out (FPNO) happens every Saturday 4-8 pm
    • Parents drop their children (bio and foster) off at a local church building for food, fun, and activities
  • In need of volunteers to help during FPNOs
  • Students interested in teaching, etc. highly encouraged to help out

CASA-Voices for Children Looking for Volunteers

  • Empowers community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the dependency court system
  • Developed program: Cultural Advocate Partner (CAP)
    • Seeking volunteers to be a part of this project that identify with underrepresented groups
  • Required: must be 21+ years of age
  • Must be willing to commit to a length of a case (2 years) and be available 2-4 hours/month

Beavs Lead: Spark

  • Date and time: Saturday, October 16, 2021 10am – 4pm in MU Horizon
  • Day long-immersive leadership experience w/ lunch provided
  • Explore personal values, identities, and passions, and how you can bring that into OSU leadership
