Tribal Climate Adaptation Guidebook

The Oregon Climate Change Research Institute and Adaptation International created the Tribal Climate Adaptation Guidebook, which provides a framework for climate-change adaptation planning in the context of existing Tribal priorities. The guidebook builds on ongoing climate-related work in Tribal communities, directly considers the distinct context of Indigenous communities, and identifies opportunities and guidance for incorporating Traditional Knowledges on the basis of the Climate and Traditional Knowledges Workgroup’s Guidelines for Considering Traditional Knowledges (TKs) in Climate Change Initiatives.

We are in the process of updating and developing an online, interactive version of the guidebook. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester for the interactive guidebook, please contact Meghan Dalton (
