If I saw a news article regarding my favorite company getting a lawsuit due to discrimination, it will change on how I view the company. I would first try to do my own research on how valid and how severe the discrimination is. It might happen due to unintentional discrimination where there is a chance, I might still support the company in the way of using their products. However, if the discrimination is severe and purely intentional then I will decide to not support the company anymore unless they are willing to prove and show how they can overturn the situation. In the case where the company will try to overturn the situation, it will take a long time for them to redeem themselves to the public. If I still decide to support the company, it will also affect me by having other people think that I support the discrimination. It would be unethical for me to continue supporting a company that discriminates.
Unintentional or not, I would think twice before applying for the company. I would most likely not apply for a position in a company that discriminates. I think that nowadays, a single issue such as this will destroy the company’s brand and reputation. It will be difficult for the company to recover from such issue since it has become more important nowadays and can face severe punishments. Not only does this affect the company’s image but also to its supporters if they don’t change their views about the company.

Hey Kenneth,
My first thought when it comes to news articles like this is it is always worth checking the validity of those claims becasue in today’s worlld there are crazy allogations always being thrown around. As far as support for. company going through that it is always going to be hard to stay behind a company that has a bad reputation for discrimunation.
I did not even think about the perception of others! That is a really good point. If you work for a company or an organization that is accused of discrimination, and continue to work for that organization, people who know about your employer may judge you for working there. They could have the perception that you share their viewpoints, and that you could even take part in the discrimination yourself. There is a saying, if you see something, and do not say something, it is like you are doing it yourself.
I too think that even one issue or accusation can really harm a company’s reputation. The world is so connected now, social media and news are constant and nothing seems to ever be missed.
