Feeling lucky? Come to the HC3 on Monday, April 22 in the SLUG between 2-3:30 p.m. to purchase raffle tickets in support of the HC Dam Proud Day on Wednesday, April 24. You could win the Triple Grand Prize, which includes a $50 gift card to the Beaver Book Store, a $25 gift card to Chipotle, and a $10 gift card to Dutch Bros! NEW! Drop-in Thesis Support
Starting in week 4, we’re excited to offer drop-in thesis hours in LInC 450. Hosted by Dewi Roberts, the Advising Coordinator for the HC, they’ll run Monday through Friday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Whether you’re grappling with formatting challenges for your pre-text pages, have questions about the external communication requirement, would like to schedule your thesis, or encounter any other thesis-related issues, this is your opportunity to seek assistance.
NEW & ONGOING! Honors Graduation Regalia Donations
The Honors College encourages recent graduates to donate their HC Graduation Regalia to our office so that they can be borrowed for future students in an effort to be more sustainable and save students the investment. If recent graduates still have their Honors College stole/tam and want to donate them for future HC grads, they can drop them off at the office Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., or they can mail them to the Honors College Office. Spring Family Weekend Brunch
All HC students are invited to join the deans and faculty for coffee and light snacks on Sunday, May 4 from 9-11 a.m. in the SLUG for Spring Family Weekend. Dean and Friends Lunch – Turning Poetry into Food, with Hiram Larew
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends Lunch Conversation with Hiram Larew, Ph.D., on “Turning Poetry into Food” on Friday, May 10 from 12-12:50 p.m. in LInC 345 and over Zoom. Hiram will discuss how poetry serves as a catalyst for addressing global hunger and food insecurity, highlighting the Poetry X Hunger initiative and his efforts to mobilize poets worldwide for social change. Lunch will be provided to in-person attendees. RSVP to kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu to reserve your spot. Hiram Larew earned his M.S. in botany and plant pathology and his Ph.D. in entomology from Oregon State University. Until his retirement in 2015, he led transformative programs at the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture, and his career spans scientific research, policy development and management, with notable contributions to global agriculture. Additionally, Larew is a poet and advocate, with his fifth collection published in 2021. His Poetry X Hunger initiative is bringing poets rom around the world to the anti-hunger cause. NEW! Marine Studies Initiative Coastal Housing Award Opportunities
Because of generous donor support, Coastal Housing Awards are now available for students who are seeking field housing at the coast and in need of financial assistance. These awards are for students studying at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Summer 2024. MSI Student Coastal Housing Awards will be up to $400 per award. Multiple awards are available. HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

Beaver Connect is looking for Peer Mentors for 2024-2025 mentoring teams at the Corvallis campus! This program matches you with a faculty member to co-mentor a group of 3-4 new-to-OSU students. Together, you’ll lead crucial discussions on navigating college, achieving success, and getting more out of the OSU experience. This is a paid position that will allow you to make connections with faculty and peers and develop resume-building leadership skills! OSU Energy Efficiency Center is Hiring
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-20 hrs/week) and during the summer (~40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. Learn more about the OSU Energy Efficiency Center here. THIS WEEK! Corvallis Ambedkar Jayanthi Celebrations
The Oregon Caste Abolition Collective (OCAC) is a community of South Asian Oregonians dedicated to social justice and the abolition of caste-based social exclusion of Dalits, Bahujans, and Adivasis. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, was a visionary leader and social reformer who dedicated his life to uplifting and empowering marginalized communities. To honor Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and commemorate his birth anniversary, we have organized a special celebration, including social activities and a presentation highlighting the work of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The event will be from 2 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th at Westminster House, 101 NW 23rd St, Corvallis, OR 97330. We look forward to celebrating this auspicious occasion with you! NEW! Summer Course Highlight – DSI 415
DSI 415 – Multidisciplinary Design for Social Impact is a 4 week Summer Course that lasts from June 24 – July 19. Registration is encouraged for open-minded, inquisitive students who desire to develop the design skills and practices needed to serve society as collaborative thinkers, informed doers and accountable leaders. Oregon Coast Summer Field Courses at Hatfield Marine Science Center
This summer, participate in Oregon State University’s undergraduate field courses hosted at Hatfield Marine Science Center and the central Oregon coast. Study at the sea and immerse yourself in coastal living and learning while earning college credit. Open to students from all institutions, and all students receive the advantage of in-state tuition. The Career Development Center facilitates matches between students and working professionals, giving students the chance to gain realistic insights into their industry of interest. The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. HC Resources
The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. Need a way to deepen your understanding of course material, discuss challenging concepts and study for upcoming exams and assignments with your fellow Beavs? Sign up for the fall term HC study groups! Study groups are a great way to receive extra academic support in any of your courses. “Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:
- Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
- Friday – 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Saturday – noon- 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday – 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
