THIS WEEK! Pick up your HC Regalia at the Graduation Fair
If you plan to attend commencement and you didn’t pre-order your Honors College Regalia last fall, do not worry! During the Graduation Fair on Tuesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 17 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., we’ll have extra HC stoles and research cords at the HC table in the BeaverStore. You’ll be able to pick up a cap(tam or mortarboard) and gown from the Jostens table. For an idea of prices and to learn more about HC Regalia, please review the information here. Note – If you can’t make it to the Grad Fair on those days, you’ll be able to buy your HC regalia from the bookstore from the 18th of April. THIS WEEK! Join an Honors College Student Leadership Circle Spring Project!
The Honors College invites participation from all honors students in an HC Student Leadership Circle spring project. The SLC advises staff and leadership on the development, implementation and assessment of initiatives, programs and opportunities. Students can sign up to contribute to one of the following two spring term projects here:
Project 1 – Student perceptions of National and Global Scholarships advising
Project 2 – Building community in the Honors College

UPCOMING! HC Community Coffee (HC3) Raffle
Feeling lucky? Come to the HC3 on Monday, April 22 in the SLUG between 2-3:30 p.m. to purchase raffle tickets in support of the HC Dam Proud Day on Wednesday, April 24. NEW! Dean and Friends Lunch – Turning Poetry into Food, with Hiram Larew
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends Lunch Conversation with Hiram Larew, Ph.D., on “Turning Poetry into Food” on Friday, May 10 from 12-12:50 p.m. in LInC 345 and over Zoom. Hiram will discuss how poetry serves as a catalyst for addressing global hunger and food insecurity, highlighting the Poetry X Hunger initiative and his efforts to mobilize poets worldwide for social change. NEW! Spring Family Weekend Brunch
All HC students are invited to join the deans and faculty for coffee and light snacks on Sunday, May 4 from 9-11 a.m. in the SLUG for Spring Family Weekend. HC Differential Tuition Scholarship
The HC Differential Tuition Scholarship application will be opening on Friday, March 15th and will remain open until Tuesday, April 16th. All current HC students are eligible to apply. This scholarship will cover all or part of the Honors Differential tuition. Please apply through ScholarDollars.
HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

OSU Energy Efficiency Center is Hiring
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-20 hrs/week) and during the summer (~40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. Learn more about the OSU Energy Efficiency Center here. NEW! Corvallis Ambedkar Jayanthi Celebrations
The Oregon Caste Abolition Collective (OCAC) is a community of South Asian Oregonians dedicated to social justice and the abolition of caste-based social exclusion of Dalits, Bahujans, and Adivasis. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, was a visionary leader and social reformer who dedicated his life to uplifting and empowering marginalized communities. To honor Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and commemorate his birth anniversary, we have organized a special celebration, including social activities and a presentation highlighting the work of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The event will be from 2 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th at Westminster House, 101 NW 23rd St, Corvallis, OR 97330. We look forward to celebrating this auspicious occasion with you! Check out the OSU Libraries’ free Graduate Student & Faculty Spring Term Workshops. Some workshops are offered online and some are offered in person. Choose an R workshop that matches your previous experience, increase your citation management skills with Zotero, learn how to access paywalled scholarship for free via the library, and explore many other great options. THIS WEEK! Engineers Without Borders – Spring Celebration Dinner
Are you an honors college student interested in serving the international community through problem solving? Engineers Without Borders at OSU is a student run organization open to students of all majors with a passion for creating change in the world. This year, we are holding a celebration dinner on Saturday, April 20th, at 6:00 p.m. in the MU Horizon Room to talk about the progress our program has made in Cambodia and Nicaragua. The dinner will be catered by the university with dishes inspired by our partner communities. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our club and get involved in the humanitarian work done here at OSU. Student tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.

Spring Faculty Research Showcase
Looking to learn about research opportunities? Faculty Research Showcases are an excellent way to connect with faculty members, learn more about their research, and potentially get involved in projects that could be the basis of an HC thesis. Even if you don’t yet feel ready to begin research or are not sure about your interests, attending these events help you to explore opportunities and make connections. These events happen each term so watch if your college or research interest is not represented watch for future showcases. Job Shadow Program
The Career Development Center facilitates matches between students and working professionals, giving students the chance to gain realistic insights into their industry of interest. Most job shadows last one or two days, and many offer both in-person and virtual options. Applications accepted until May 3rd.
THIS WEEK! Beaver Freezer Triathlon Volunteering Opportunity
On Saturday, Apr. 20, the Oregon State Triathlon Club is hosting the Beaver Freezer Triathlon in front of Dixon Recreation Center! To make this race run smoothly, we need as many volunteers as possible. That means that we need YOU! We have many opportunities for volunteers and no experience is required. Anyone is welcome! If you volunteer, you will get free food, a free shirt, and free gratitude from our coordinators! We have volunteering opportunities from 5:30 a.m. until around 3:30 p.m. You are welcome to stay as long as they would like! If you are interested, please click here and fill out the form to sign up! Borrow your Textbooks for Free!
The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. Visit their Textbook Lending Program website to see resources available at the BNC. Visit the BNC in-person at Champinefu Lodge to check out course materials.
HC Resources
The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. Need a way to deepen your understanding of course material, discuss challenging concepts and study for upcoming exams and assignments with your fellow Beavs? Sign up for the fall term HC study groups! Study groups are a great way to receive extra academic support in any of your courses. “Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:
- Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
- Friday – 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Saturday – noon- 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday – 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
These resources are available throughout the term.
