HCSA Midnight Breakfast
The Honors College Student Association is hosting midnight breakfast to kick off dead week and celebrate nearing the end of the term. This event will be on Friday, March 17 at 11:30 p.m. in the West and Sackett main lounge. There will be free pancakes, fruits, juices, yogurt bowls, and more at the event!. Bring a friend to socialize and BYOU (bring your own utensils)!

Back by Popular Demand! HC Faculty Led Study Abroad to London
Through classes and activities around the city, you’ll learn about London in the different time periods and from a variety of perspectives with faculty in liberal arts, and engineering. HC Thailand Study Abroad

Ian, an Honors College student in Industrial Engineering, is holding his defense on Wednesday, March 8 at 8 a.m. in ROG 226. His thesis is titled: “When Normal Distributions Fail: An Application of Feature Engineering to YouTube Videos”. There is also Zoom option!

Need a little help with writing, biology, chemistry, or math? Tutors are available for study groups. You do not need to be in honors versions or currently in the classes to come to study groups.

Write for Inside Scoop
Do you have any tips for younger HC students? Do you have a unique HC experience you want to share? Do you want to have a piece of your writing published on the Honors Link blog? Apply to write an article for the HC’s Inside Scoop series. These are short (500-1000) word articles that capture aspects of being an honors student. Submit an article pitch here and get the inside scoop from other students on our blog.

Scholarship & Financial Aid Opportunities
SNAP Outreach at the BNC
Students may be eligible for $234 a month in grocery funds! SNAP is a federal nutrition benefits program, and the Basic Needs Center Center at Oregon State assists with applications! For more information visit the SNAP link here.
HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

This position within the Writing Intensive Curriculum (WIC) program is about five hours per week for the rest of the year, with the option to continue next year. NEW! Creative Submissions Needed for the Palouse Review
The Palouse Review is the biannual arts and academics journal of the Washington State University Honors College. They accept poetry, art, digital media and writing submissions from current and former honors students from throughout the Western Regional Honors Council. Their editors are looking for carefully crafted, evocative work that demonstrates the literary, artistic, and academic excellence of our broader honors community. Submissions are due here by Sunday, March 19.
Become an Honors College START Leader
Honors College student START assistants help facilitate academic advising and registration during START sessions throughout the summer. START assistants will welcome and engage with incoming students, help students connect with academic advisors both in person and through Zoom. They will also assist incoming students by making class adjustments in the computer lab. More information and how to apply can be found here.

We are seeking 4 undergraduate student technicians for field work surveying streams in the Oregon Coast Range this summer. This is a full time position working up to 40 hours a week. Marine Studies Field Summer Courses

Academic Coaches support fellow students by working one-on-one with students in a series of conversations to define individualized academic goals and identify strategies to advance those goals. Writing Consultants provide support through writing and research consultations in person, via Zoom, and through written feedback via email. 2023-24 Art-Sci Student Fellowship
This fellowship offers students the opportunity to explore the intersection of two disciplines or ways of looking at the world. During the year-long fellowship, students will develop a creative project informed by active engagement with research at OSU, choosing between four tracks: – Art+Science
– Art+Engineering
– Humanities+Science
– Film+Science
Fellows will be awarded $1,000, ongoing networking opportunities, mentorship, and be eligible to apply for a residency at the Cabin at Shotpouch Creek to work on their project. This opportunity is available to graduate students and upper-division undergraduate students. Applications due by Friday March 17.

Academics for Student Athletes are now Hiring Tutors!
ASA is now hiring tutors for winter 2023. These are paid on-campus positions that offer flexible schedules. They are also a wonderful opportunity to use the content knowledge you have gained in the classroom, while also helping fellow students better gain subject mastery, and the organizational skills needed to excel at OSU. Tutor applicants must be sophomore standing and hold an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. Most tutoring will be performed in-person during winter term, but hybrid options are available. ASOSU Campus Improvements Committee in partnership with Circle K and Rotaract Club are collecting new and used donations for their winter clothing drive! Items such as scarves, hats, gloves, and coats are being collected in order to help students in need. You can drop off donations in bins at the SEC Plaza, ALS atrium and the SLUG. For Women’s History Month, PERIOD at OSU will be hosting a health education panel in collaboration with ASOSU, featuring experts on menstrual, reproductive, and sexual health. Come hear from Megan Zaander, M.D., a gynecologist; Camille Mulchi, an experienced doula and certified childbirth educator; Teresa Ashford, M.S, an HDFS instructor here at OSU; Missy Cheyney, Ph.D, a licensed midwife and medical anthropologist; and Amanda Stevens, MPH, Sexual Health Specialist at OSU’s Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Education. Kindergarten Readiness Research Program
We are looking for volunteer Undergraduate Research Assistants who are interested in working with young children in school settings and learning about research and education in the real world. We are testing test the efficacy of our Red Light, Purple Light (RLPL) movement and music self-regulation intervention in preschool children. More on RLPL can be found here.
Beavs Volunteer Winter 2023
Join us once or weekly for a volunteer service project at Heartland Humane Shelter & Care, Room at the Inn, Parks & Recreation, Starker Arts Garden for Education (SAGE), and Habitat for Humanity. We will help provide meals & housing for people in need, create a more welcoming place for the animals, and work towards affordable housing and equity. Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU App
Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU is an app that gives all OSU students, including Ecampus students, 24/7 access by text or phone with a licensed mental health counselor (MySSP stands for “My Student Support Program”). The app makes it easy to schedule short-term counseling appointments with the same ongoing counselor and provides educational materials covering mental health topics. Students can communicate with a counselor in five different languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish or English); additional language options are available upon request. The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. “Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area.
