You are invited to the Honors College Spring Gala on Friday, May 20! Join fellow Honors College students in celebrating the end of a successful school year with music, dinner and fun. Dressing up is encouraged. Doors and dinner service open at 6:00 p.m., short awards ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m., and the evening ends at 9:00 p.m. RSVP here by Monday, May 15.
NEW! HCSA Wheelchair Carwash Service Event
HCSA is orchestrating a service event over at Stoneybrook Assisted Living in Corvallis. On Thursday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. they are looking for volunteers to help out with a carwash for wheelchairs, walkers and power chairs! This is a great opportunity to assist members of our community and make a difference! Survey the HC Event App Demo
A senior capstone project group needs your input! This group is in charge of designing a mobile app to display events listed in the Monday Message in a more organized and user-friendly way. They would greatly appreciate it if you could give some of your time to look at their current demo and answer this survey. The survey is anonymous and includes the link to the app’s demo which is a click-through Figma.

Whether you are waiting on your next paycheck or running low on groceries, stop by the SLUG kitchen cabinet to make a sandwich, eat some oatmeal or grab a bowl of soup. Open to all HC students, this free resource is first come, first served and supplies are limited — take what you need and leave what you can for the next HC Beaver in need of a bite!

HC Presenter Registration for CUE 2022 is now Open! – UPCOMING DEADLINE
The Office of URSA is excited to announce that registration for OSU’s 2022 Celebrating Undergraduate Excellence (CUE) is now open! CUE is an annual showcase for OSU undergraduates to present their research and creative projects to the OSU community. Undergraduates are invited to present on Thursday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom or online via Canvas for those who are unable to join in Corvallis. The deadline for students to register to present at CUE is Friday, April 22 at 5 p.m. Details and the registration link are available here.
HC Dean and Friends Conversation Series: Pathways to Career Leadership
The Oregon State University Honors College is excited to introduce a brand-new Dean and Friends Virtual Conversation Series: Pathways to Career Leadership. Featuring four highly successful leaders in the arts, business, science and technology, Pathways to Career Leadership will take place virtually throughout spring term 2022 (April 11 – May 13). All honors students are invited to join us via Zoom to connect, ask questions and hear how these uniquely different speakers have emerged as leaders in their chosen career paths. All meetings will be hosted via Zoom from 12-12:50 p.m., and the links will be provided upon registration. Registration is now open, and you can register for as many sessions as you’d like!
HC Art Show
HC students, we need your help to make Spring Family Weekend a success! We know you all have incredible talents both in and out of the classroom. This year we will be having an Art Show and coffee on Saturday, April 30 from 9-11 a.m. Do you have some art that you would like to display? This could be drawing, painting, sculpture, poetry, digital art, handmade craft, audio of musical performance or something we have not thought of. Keep in mind, all art pieces must be appropriate in content for a college audience and their families. Please fill out this form to let us know what you would like to contribute. Become an Honors College Dam Proud Day Ambassador!
The Honors College is seeking ambassadors for Dam Proud Day 2022! As an ambassador, you will get loud to express your Honors College pride and spread the word about Dam Proud Day. You will have your own fundraising page (no donation required on your part) to share on social media platforms to raise funds for Honors College Differential Tuition Scholarships. DPD Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to participate in virtual and on-campus events and activities throughout the event in April and compete for college- and campus-wide recognition. Scholarship and Financial Aid Opportunities
Google Women of Color in Tech Scholarship
The CS-ER team is very excited to share information with you about a new Google-sponsored scholarship. The new Women of Color in Tech scholarship is intended to help raise awareness about the gender gap in tech and the barriers women of color face in entering the industry. The scholarship, administered by Scholly (a scholarship organization) will provide 20 scholarships for $10,000 each to Black, Latina and/or Native senior high school or undergraduate women students who are currently pursuing a computing-related degree and wish to use the funding to support a computer science higher education degree. Financial Aid Opportunities
Financial aid and scholarships can make paying for school much easier, and now is the time to submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or ORSAA (Oregon Student Aid Application) and apply for scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year. Filing a FAFSA or ORSAA is something you need to do every year. We recommend you file as soon as possible. Here are some reasons why:
– The OSU ScholarDollars scholarship application is open now. Some scholarships consider your financial need, and information from the FAFSA/ORSAA is used to determine your eligibility for those scholarships. You also may have unique financial circumstances that you would like to explain. The ScholarDollars application gives you an opportunity to share the specifics of your situation.
– OSU awarded more than $66 million in scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.
– The FAFSA is how you access all types of federal aid, including grants, loans and work study. Consider it a safety net – even if you never need these resources, it’s good to have the option ready if your circumstances change.
– The FAFSA and ORSAA make you eligible for consideration for the Oregon Opportunity Grant and other aid programs at OSU.
– Most types of aid have limited funding available, so the sooner you submit your FAFSA or ORSAA, the better your chances of receiving an award.

SNAP Outreach at the HSRC
Students may be eligible for $234 a month in grocery funds! SNAP is a federal nutrition benefits program, and the Human Services Resource Center at Oregon State assists with applications! For more information visit the SNAP link here.

NEW! Disability Justice Student Employment Opportunity
This summer, OID will be revising its existing curriculum and creating new curriculum to engage topics of disability justice and awareness. We are looking to hire an interested undergraduate or graduate student to contribute to this work. The position will begin on Monday, June 20, 2022 and will end on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022. NEW! Art-Science Student Fellowship Opportunity
This one-year fellowship offers OSU students the opportunity to explore the intersection of the arts and sciences. Fellows will develop a creative project informed by engagement with lab or field research, be awarded a $1,000 stipend, have ongoing mentorship, and receive a residency at the Cabin at Shotpouch Creek. Honors College Center for the Humanities Summer Internships
The Honors College and the Center for the Humanities are pleased to invite applications from faculty and undergraduate teams for the summer, 2022 Honors College-Center for the Humanities Research Internship Program. Up to seven $4,500 internships will be awarded to support Honors College undergraduates working with College of Liberal Arts faculty members during summer, 2022. These awards are intended to provide undergraduates interested in careers in the humanities, social sciences and arts with practical experiences and professional skills-development opportunities that further faculty research and creative projects. Undergraduate applicants may come from any major or minor but must be making satisfactory progress toward Honors College degree completion with plans to enroll in fall term, 2022. Kindergarten Readiness Research Program
This research opportunity is being provided through the Kindergarten Readiness Research Program at OSU, and this opportunity will begin in the fall of 2022. They currently have federal grant to scale up and test the efficacy of their Red Light, Purple Light (RLPL) movement and music self-regulation intervention in preschool children. Portland State University Summer 2022 REU Program
Portland State University’s 2022 summer REU site program is now accepting applications. This is an eight-week long research experience that gives students the opportunity to work closely with a PSU faculty member to conduct a research project. REU participants will attend various research skill training activities and take a short course about scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and focused ion beam microscopy (FIB) for materials characterizations before they join faculty members’ research lab to conduct their projects. The program runs from June 20 until August 12. Students will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week for a $4,000 stipend. The OPEnS Lab seeks undergraduate researchers to work in a hands-on technology-rich makerspace to produce next generation sensing technologies for environmental research. All OSU students are invited to register for Summer Field Courses at the Hatfield Marine Science Center and become immersed in coastal living and learning at the Oregon coast! Earn college credit while getting unique field experience, and connect with faculty from OSU to learn about coastal and ocean ecosystems, marine species and conservation. SLUG Hours and Info!
The HC student learning space in the Learning Innovation Center, room 340 – called the SLUG – is open! Winter term SLUG hours:
– Sunday – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
– Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
– Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– Saturday – noon to 6 p.m.
The SLUG features study and social areas, more than 20 computers, a scanner and a friendly HC student staff member who can help with any questions. In addition, honors students can print for free when using SLUG computers! The SLUG also offers a small kitchen. Bring your own coffee pods and brew up a cup in our new Keurig machine! The HC Forgot Your Lunch food cabinet is available as well with free snacks for anyone who needs it. All students visiting the SLUG will be expected to sign in and wear masks while using the facility. Please contact honors.college@oregonstate.edu with questions.
