Having a schedule will set you up for success with whatever you have in store each week. Plan for different activities or tasks throughout the week, e.g. classes are primarily Mon, Wed and Thurs, and workdays are Sat and Sun. Don’t forget to pencil in a few hours for vital rest and relaxation!

UPCOMING! HSCA Winter Clothing Drive Volunteer Opportunity
To run the winter clothing drive the HSCA needs some important volunteer positions filled! These positions consist of “location checkers” who are in charge of going to one box location about once a week to collect clothes if the boxes are full! There will be locations on and off-campus and the collected clothes will be stored by the HSCA. Email Bryankel@oregonstate.edu if you are interested in volunteering!

NEXT WEEK! GRAMMY U Informational Presentation
The GRAMMY U Oregon State Informational presentation will provide information about what GRAMMY U is, what benefits are offered to GRAMMY U Members, and how to apply, along with details about the application process. This ZOOM conference will take place on Tuesday January 11th at 4:00 pm and will run until 5:00 pm. Cameron Mangione (GRAMMY U Representative, Pacific Northwest Chapter), and Kjerstyn Jordheim (GRAMMY U Campus Ambassador, Oregon State University) will be the presenters. Dr. Dana Reason (Assistant Professor of Contemporary Music, and GRAMMY U Faculty advocate). Open to all students interested in pursuing a career in the music/entertainment industry.

Submit Nomination for Student Spotlight
The HC is currently accepting nominations for students to feature in their Student Spotlight series. If you know of a student who you think deserves recognition for their studies, research, service or a specific area of interest please submit their name and the reason for the nomination here. The honors college will contact selected students for permission and to schedule a short interview. Self-nominations are welcome!
Thesis Survey about Outdoor Recreation
Jensen Davis is currently surveying students about their time spent participating in outdoor activities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This study, Outdoor recreation rates during COVID-19 quarantine, hopes to look at how people have changed their recreation habits over the past year to better predict how to manage recreation areas in the future. The survey found here will only take 5-10 minutes and will help Davis with their thesis!

Scholarship and Financial Aid Opportunities
Jason Halstead and Robert Chapman Scholarship Fund
This scholarship has been created to help Oregon students in order to launch and support tomorrow’s thought leaders and change-makers. Complete the Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC) application here. Applications will be accepted Monday, Nov. 1 through Tuesday, March 1 for the upcoming academic year. SNAP Outreach at the HSRC
Students may be eligible for $234 a month in grocery funds! SNAP is a federal nutrition benefits program, and the Human Services Resource Center at Oregon State assists with applications! For more information visit the SNAP link here.
Honors College Experiential Award Application
Honors students participating in professional conferences or in need of financial support for research expenses related to their thesis can apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship. The application can be found here. Only applicants who have submitted a signed thesis proposal to the Honors College are eligible for research expense support. The maximum award is $750, and all awards are paid as scholarships to recipients’ OSU accounts. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.
Udall Scholarship
The Udall Foundation awards scholarships of $7,000 to college sophomores and juniors on the basis of their leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to American Indian nations or to the environment. Please contact LeAnn Adam, Director of National and Global Scholarships Advising, at LeAnn.Adam@oregonstate.edu to discuss your interest in applying. The OSU campus deadline is February 1, 2021, but it is recommended that you start applying now.
Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant
The Honors College recognizes that these may continue to be challenging times for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant ($500). Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate. See the application for additional information.

Join this nationally recognized program and help contribute to the grand engineering challenges in the 21st century. The National Academy of Engineering created the Grand Challenges Scholars Program to challenge the next generation of engineers with ways to improve the globe through the themes of Health, Sustainability, Security, and Joy of Living. The closing date for the application is Monday, Feb. 14. However, they will be hosting sessions throughout late January and early February. NEW! Grow to Pro 2022
Grow to Pro is the Leadership Academy’s winter term flagship event. Grow to Pro focuses on engineering professional development through two important skill areas: networking and interviewing. In a supportive environment, engineering students practice these skills with the help of engineering industry partners and alumni. This event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Toyota Club level in Reser Stadium. They will thoughtfully pair students with industry professionals for 1-1 and panel interview practice, and all attendees will be able to participate in a special networking lunch. Plus, they will be offering free professional headshots for all attendees, perfect for your social media or LinkedIn profile! They will also have attendance from industry representatives from companies such as Intel, Genentech, Port of Portland, Jacobs, McKinstry, and many more! They do not expect students to be experts at interviewing and networking in order to attend this event. Their core message is all about growth and learning for everyone. UPCOMING DEADLINE! Apply for the Washington Leadership Program
The Washington Leadership Program (WLP) is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications from high-potential South Asian American college students for the 2022 summer leadership program scheduled to take place from June 11, 2022 until August 5, 2022. The application due Sunday, Jan. 9 is available here. Interns will receive a total stipend of $2,000 and will be required to complete 2-3 short writing assignments during the internship. Academics for Student Athletes Tutor Positions Available
Academics for Student Athletes has multiple openings for tutors. These are paid on-campus positions that offer flexible schedules. They are also a wonderful opportunity to use the content knowledge students have gained in the classroom while also helping fellow students better gain subject mastery and the organizational skills needed to excel at OSU. Tutor applicants must be junior standing and hold an overall GPA of 3.0. All tutoring will be performed in person during the winter term. All majors are encouraged to apply. EMT Research Symposium
This symposium will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.in Oregon State University’s Horizon Room at the Memorial Union. It will feature Environmental and Molecular Toxicology Department alumni from industry, government, and academia as well as the current faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars to present their cutting-edge research and career experiences. The meeting aims to be a platform to explore the intersections between the research and careers of biologists, chemists, epidemiologists, regulatory scientists, and more. Join this meeting for exciting talks, a career panel, excellent opportunities for asking our speakers about their experiences, and networking throughout. Community Health Fellowship Gap Year
The Community Health Fellowship is a unique “gap year” opportunity for recent college graduates from across the country. The organization provides housing and a monthly educational stipend. Project Horseshoe Farm offers Community Health Fellowship programs in Alabama and California. This upcoming year, HSF is offering a traditional Gap-Year Fellowship, which will begin in June of 2022 and finish in July of 2023at Greensboro, Marion, and Pomona sites. For applicants who are available and interested there is also a 6-month Fellowship opportunity in Greensboro from January through July of 2022. It will be shorter, but similar in experience to the full-year Fellowship. The application deadline for the 2022-23 gap-year Fellowship is on Sunday, Feb. 13 2022. Updated SLUG Hours and Info!
The HC student learning space in the Learning Innovation Center, room 340 – called the SLUG – is open! Fall term SLUG hours:
– Sunday – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
– Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
– Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– Saturday – noon to 6 p.m.
The SLUG features study and social areas, more than 20 computers, a scanner and a friendly HC student staff member who can help with any questions. In addition, honors students can print for free when using SLUG computers! The SLUG also offers a small kitchen. Bring your own coffee pods and brew up a cup in our new Keurig machine! The HC Forgot Your Lunch food cabinet is available as well with free snacks for anyone who needs it. All students visiting the SLUG will be expected to sign in and wear masks while using the facility. Please contact honors.college@oregonstate.edu with questions.

Fall term advising hours will be hosted in West and Sackett Halls, every Friday. Honors College academic advisors can assist you in making decisions regarding your academic, career and personal goals. All Honors students are welcome to drop in—no appointment is necessary.
