HC Announcements and Events

NEW! HCSA Food Drive running now! Look for activities all February

HCSA is participating in OSU’s annual food drive! Every year during the month of February the university comes together and plans a wide variety of food and fund-raising activities to help the hungry. Proceeds from the OSU Corvallis campus benefit the non-profit agencies served in Linn-Benton Food Share. These agencies include local food pantries, the OSU food pantry, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, daycare centers, shelter homes, and gleaning groups in Linn and Benton counties. The HCSA has raised the most funds for a student group the last few years, and hope to keep the tradition going! Help by supporting some of the upcoming activities:

  • Jamba Juice coupons: Ongoing. HCSA is selling Jamba Juice coupon cards for $10 with over $20 in savings! If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity and donate to a great cause, go get a Jamba card at the HC front desk in the LINC 450, or by contacting Maya at livnim@oregonstate.edu.
  • Donation bins in SLUG: Ongoing. There will be a box in the SLUG for canned food donations, and anyone can donate money by giving it to the front desk at the SLUG.
  • Penny War in West/Sackett: Ongoing. Stop by the front desk of West or Sackett to participate in the penny war! Add pennies to your floor’s jar to earn positive points. Add other coins or bills to other floor’s to give them negative points. The wing or floor that has the most positive points (or least negative points) at the end of the month wins a party of their choosing!
  • Panda Express night: Wednesday, February 5. Stop by Panda Express in the MU on February 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., pick up some dinner, and show the HCSA fundraiser flyer to the cashier. 20% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go straight to Linn-Benton Food Share.
  • Bake Sale: Friday, February 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. under ALS Skybridge. Honors College faculty, staff, and students will be selling home-baked goods. Stop by for some delicious treats! 100% of the earnings from this fundraiser will go straight to Linn-Benton Food Share.

NEW! Live2Lead Series: Marcus BuckinghamFeb. 20

The Leadership Academy and Honors College are hosting the second workshop in a two-part Live2Lead series. You will have the opportunity to watch inspirational leadership talks from some of the most prominent leadership experts in our society, as captured from the annual John Maxwell Company Live2Lead Conference. Industry leaders will also be present to unpack some of the leadership principles from these talks, with time for discussion and application.

Marcus Buckingham is a bestselling author, global researcher and strengths revolutionist focused on unlocking strengths, increasing performance and pioneering the future of how people work. Building on nearly two decades of experience as a Senior Researcher at Gallup Organization, he currently guides the vision of ADP Research Institute as Head of People + Performance research. He founded The Marcus Buckingham Company in 2006 with a clear mission: to instigate a “strengths revolution.” It started, as all revolutions do, with the simplest of ideas: that when people spend the majority of each day on the job using their greatest talents and engaged in their favorite tasks, basically doing exactly what they want to do, both they and their organizations will win.
