THIS WEEK! Honors College Graduation Celebration
HC Graduates from Summer ’23-Summer ’24 are invited to join the Honors College deans and staff on Friday, June 14 from 4-6 p.m. on the LInC Lawn as we celebrate the accomplishments of honors students at the 2024 Honors College Graduation Celebration! There will be gifts for graduates, light refreshments and opportunities for photos at this event. Students and families are welcome to arrive any time from 4-5:30 p.m.

Complete the Honors College Annual Survey
The HC is committed to improving and developing programs and curriculum for our students. Your feedback is a crucial part of that process! Please fill out the annual survey to tell us about your year. It should only take 5-10 minutes. Complete the survey by July 31 for the chance to win a $50 Beaver Store gift card. Visit here

Honors College students who graduated or are graduating between Fall 2023 and Summer 2024, submit to our Alumni Gallery to share your accomplishments and future plans. Introducing the new HC Research Opportunity Page on the HC website! Here you can find research opportunities from faculty university-wide who are recruiting HC students. Whether you’re unsure of what to do for your thesis or just want some research experience, you can check out the page to see what options are currently available. The page will be updated regularly with the newest opportunities.

The HC is currently accepting nominations for students to feature in the Student Spotlight series. If you know of a student who you think deserves recognition submit their name and the reason for the nomination here.

Scholarship & Financial Aid Opportunities

HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.

HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

NEW! OSGC Student Ambassador Program Application
Want to represent Oregon Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) in your region of Oregon? Student Ambassadors will engage with K-12, higher education, and public audiences, reaching students families and communities through events such as library outreach, science fairs, and museum events. The 2024-2025 application deadline has been extended to Friday, June 21st. Visit the Student Ambassador page for more information and to apply.

NEW! Business Administration Graduates Wanted at Peterson Cat
Peterson Cat is looking for 4 OSU graduates for a paid management trainee initiative starting in Fall 2024. As a part of the Next GEN Leader Program at Peterson Cat, you will spend three years in job rotation, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Product Sales Support Rep, Parts Manager, Service Manager, or Rental Branch/Area Manager. Plan Ahead for Fall Career Fairs!
Fairs are a chance for OSU students to meet with businesses and organizations who are interested in recruiting them. Students can come to one event and interact with multiple potential employers offering part-time, full-time, and internship opportunities. Even if you are not ready to launch into a post-graduation career, these events are a great opportunity for students to start making connections and researching possibilities. Mark these Fall term fairs on your calendar: Part-time Job Fair on Tuesday, October 2, 2024; Virtual Career and Internship Fair on Wednesday, October 16, 2024; Civil, Construction & Arch. Engr. Student Position Opening: Design for Social Impact Ambassador
The Design for Social Impact (DSI) undergraduate certificate program is now accepting Ambassador applications to fill two part-time positions. Ambassadors are current OSU students who host information sessions on campus, represent DSI at on-campus and off-campus recruiting and Alumni events, and connect with prospective DSI students and families. Students who are fluent in Spanish are highly encouraged to apply. Apply here.

OSU Energy Efficiency Center is Hiring
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-20 hrs/week) and during the summer (~40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. Learn more about the OSU Energy Efficiency Center here. OSU Global Medical Brigades Club
Interested in going to Panama? GMB is an international non-profit organization that consists of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. Our mission is to inspire, mobilize, and collaborate with communities to achieve their own health and economic goals. We are traveling to Panama this year from December 15th – 22nd! Borrow your Textbooks for Free!
The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. Visit their Textbook Lending Program website to see resources available at the BNC. Visit the BNC in-person at Champinefu Lodge to check out course materials.

HC Resources

The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. HC Study Groups
Need a way to deepen your understanding of course material, discuss challenging concepts and study for upcoming exams and assignments with your fellow Beavs? Sign up for the fall term HC study groups! Study groups are a great way to receive extra academic support in any of your courses. If you would like to participate in fall term HC study groups, please email bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu.

“Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:

  • Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
  • Friday – 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday – noon- 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday – 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

These resources are available throughout the term.
