NEW! Course Highlight: FES 485H and Summer Course Registration
Be sure to register for Summer Honors Bacc Core and Colloquia courses! FES 485H: Consensus and Natural Resources is a 3-credit Ecampus course offered during Summer 2024 which fulfills the Bacc Core: Synthesis, Science/Technology/Society. Instructor: Stacy Rosenberg. Description: Using a working group approach, select a natural resource topic, study the team process and interaction as a method of learning, explore the issue using systems practice, and strive for consensus on solutions to the issue. The HC also allows for non-honors students to fill empty seats in honors classes. If interested, they can fill out a request here.

The HC is committed to improving and developing programs and curriculum for our students. Your feedback is a crucial part of that process! NEW! Please Complete Honors Course Evaluations
Course evaluations help the Honors College to guide curriculum decisions and to add variety from different disciplines. The OSU Student Learning Experience Surveys (SLEs) now include a block of four questions specific to honors courses. Please take the time to fill out the entire SLE for all your honors classes. Links to the SLE aresent to your ONID email and automatically added to Canvas course sites.
Honors College Graduation Celebration
HC Graduates from Summer ’23-Summer ’24 are invited to join the Honors College deans and staff on Friday, June 14 from 4-6 p.m. in the LInC Lawn as we celebrate the accomplishments of honors students at the 2024 Honors College Graduation Celebration! There will be gifts for graduates, light refreshments and opportunities for photos at this event. Students and families are welcome to arrive any time from 4-5:30 p.m.
Summer Read 2024: Solito by Javier Zamora
This summer, incoming students will read Javier Zamora’s gripping memoir, Solito. This is the story of Zamora’s migration at age nine from El Salvador to the U.S. as an unaccompanied minor. We invite everyone to read this year’s selection, and to that end we have provided copies of the book that you can check out at Valley Library Reserves (four copies in English and one in Spanish). See availability and location. On Wednesday October 16, Zamora will come to campus to meet with honors students and participate in a moderated conversation at PRAx, the new performing arts center. ONGOING! Drop-in Thesis Support
Starting in week 4, we’re excited to offer drop-in thesis hours in LInC 450. Hosted by Dewi Roberts, the Advising Coordinator for the HC, they’ll run Monday through Friday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Whether you’re grappling with formatting challenges for your pre-text pages, have questions about the external communication requirement, would like to schedule your thesis, or encounter any other thesis-related issues, this is your opportunity to seek assistance.
ONGOING! Honors Graduation Regalia Donations
The Honors College encourages recent graduates to donate their HC Graduation Regalia to our office so that they can be borrowed for future students in an effort to be more sustainable and save students the investment. If recent graduates still have their Honors College stole/tam and want to donate them for future HC grads, they can drop them off at the office Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., or they can mail them to the Honors College Office. Please list Laura Blackwell (laura.blackwell@oregonstate.edu) as the contact person if anyone has any questions.

Scholarship & Financial Aid Opportunities
HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

Student Position Opening: Design for Social Impact Ambassador
The Design for Social Impact (DSI) undergraduate certificate program is now accepting Ambassador applications to fill two part-time positions. Ambassadors are current OSU students who host information sessions on campus, represent DSI at on-campus and off-campus recruiting and Alumni events, and connect with prospective DSI students and families. OSU Energy Efficiency Center is Hiring
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-20 hrs/week) and during the summer (~40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. Learn more about the OSU Energy Efficiency Center here. Your adventure abroad starts here! Join National and Global Scholarships Advising to learn more about the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Fulbright US Student Program sponsors U.S. citizens who have earned a bachelor’s degree to go abroad to study, research, or teach English in a selection of over 140 different countries. Design a research project, complete graduate study in a subject of your choice, propose an art or creative project, or teach English in a K-12 or university classroom in a country of your choice. National and Global Scholarships Advising will hold a free information session on Tuesday, May 28, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at LInC 343 and online open for all who are interested. Find out more here.

Borrow your Textbooks for Free!
The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. Visit their Textbook Lending Program website to see resources available at the BNC. Visit the BNC in-person at Champinefu Lodge to check out course materials.
HC Resources
The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. HC Study Groups
Need a way to deepen your understanding of course material, discuss challenging concepts and study for upcoming exams and assignments with your fellow Beavs? Sign up for the fall term HC study groups! Study groups are a great way to receive extra academic support in any of your courses. If you would like to participate in fall term HC study groups, please email bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu.
“Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:
- Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
- Friday – 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Saturday – noon- 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday – 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
These resources are available throughout the term.
