NEW! Spring Term Honors Course Offering: PSY 492H Conservation Psychology
Learn more about the field of environmental, conservation, and climate psychology in this newly designed, on-campus honors course. Explore topics like the effects of nature on psychological wellbeing, place attachment, the effects of climate change on our emotional states, and biophilic architecture and design. About half of the class time will be spent with hands-on projects outside the classroom as we observe humans in nature, go on a biophilic design and architecture tour on campus, etc. For more information, contact Dr. Huemer at sabine.huemer@oregonstate.edu.
Change to Honors Course Evaluations
Course evaluations help the Honors College to guide curriculum decisions and to add variety from different disciplines. The OSU Student Learning Experience Surveys (SLEs) now include a block of four questions specific to honors courses. Please take the time to fill out the entire SLE for all your honors classes. Links to the SLE are sent to your ONID email and automatically added to Canvas course sites.
Honors Ecampus Course Offerings
Be sure to check out the HC Ecampus courses for spring term, open to Corvallis students when Phase 2 of registration begins (9:30 PM on Thursday, March 14 for Honors College). Tuition rates for Ecampus are different from on-campus courses—if you’re an out-of-state student, Ecampus might be a good deal for you! Check here for more information. Courses include: CS 362H Software Engineering II, FILM 145H Intro to Film Studies: 1968-1999, PHL/REL 444H Biomedical Ethics, PSY 202H General Psychology, WR 227HZ Technical Writing, and some great colloquia options.
Coffee with the OSU Deans

Dean and Friends Lunch on Preparing for a Career in Healthcare
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends Lunch conversation on Preparing for a Career in Healthcare with Dr. Robert Bentley, ’78, on Wednesday, April 3 from 12-12:50 p.m. in MU 211. Dr. Bentley, a graduate of the honors program at Oregon State in microbiology, will offer insights into different medical career pathways, preparing for a career in medicine and medical school admissions processes, as well as answer questions. How the Court System Affects You More than You Think – A Dean and Friends Lunch Conversation with Judge Mary Deits Rousseau (rescheduled event)
All Honors College students are invited to a special Dean and Friends lunch conversation with Judge Mary Deits Rousseau on “How the Court System Affects You More than You Think” on Friday, April 12th from noon-12:50 p.m. in LInC 345. Judge Rousseau was named an Honors College Alumni Fellow by the Oregon State University Alumni Association in 2023 and is a member of the Honors College Board of Regents, the college’s leadership advisory group. After graduating from the honors program at Oregon State in 1971, she became the second woman to serve on the Oregon Court of Appeals and one of the first in the country to be a Chief Judge of a state Court of Appeals. At this discussion, she’ll share reflections on how the courts affect us all in our everyday lives and how the role of the courts is changing. Scholarship & Financial Aid Opportunities
HC International Program Scholarship
Honors College students with financial need can apply for a scholarship of up to $1,000 in support of participation in HC sponsored and planned international opportunities (France, Nepal, Romania and London in 2024). Funds are limited, and awards will be made based on financial need and availability of funds. Incoming first year students are eligible to apply for this scholarship as well. Apply here by Friday, March 29.
HC Differential Tuition Scholarship
The HC Differential Tuition Scholarship application will be opening on Friday, March 15th and will remain open until Tuesday, April 16th. All current HC students are eligible to apply. This scholarship will cover all or part of the Honors Differential tuition. Please apply through ScholarDollars.
HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. This is not a scholarship and is designed to provide short-term, immediate support. Contact bailey.garvin@oregonstate.edu or an Honors College advisor with questions.
HC Experiential Award Application
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. Contact Kevin Stoller at kevin.stoller@oregonstate.edu with questions.

NEW! OSU Energy Efficiency Center is Hiring
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-20 hrs/week) and during the summer (~40 hrs/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. These engineering analyses and improvement recommendations are compiled into a report and delivered to the client. It is a great way to see many different industrial processes and learn about ways to save energy. Learn more about the OSU Energy Efficiency Center here. We have several open positions beginning this spring/summer as our seniors graduate. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis, especially recruiting sophomores and juniors.

THIS WEEK! Student Position Opening – Undergraduate Media Assistant: Instagram and Tiktok Editor
The Honors College is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to join our team as a Student Media Assistant to manage the HC Instagram and TikTok account. This is a part-time position with approximately 10 hours per week. Work hours can be flexible to accommodate a student schedule. Positions Open for START Assistants This Summer
The Honors College is accepting applications for 6 in person START Assistants for this coming summer. START Assistants will welcome and engage with incoming students and help connect students with academic advisors both in person and on Zoom. They will also assist with course registration, and data tracking as needed. Applications will remain open until Friday, Apr. 5 or until the position is filled. College of Agricultural Science Undergraduate Research
The College of Ag is currently accepting applications for the Continuing Researcher Support Program. This program provides up to $1700 to undergraduate students with prior research experience who are seeking support to conduct a semi-independent research project with a College of AgSci faculty member. Projects can be conducted in summer term ($700 award), academic year (fall, winter, spring – $1000 award), or full year ($1700 award). The deadline to apply is Friday, April 12. Questions? Beaver Freezer Triathlon Volunteering Opportunity
On Saturday, Apr. 20, the Oregon State Triathlon Club is hosting the Beaver Freezer Triathlon in front of Dixon Recreation Center! To make this race run smoothly, we need as many volunteers as possible. That means that we need YOU! We have many opportunities for volunteers and no experience is required. Anyone is welcome! If you volunteer, you will get free food, a free shirt, and free gratitude from our coordinators! Oregon Coast Summer Field Courses at Hatfield Marine Science Center

The Basic Needs Center (BNC) has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more. The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy. “Forgot Your Lunch?” Station Available in SLUG
The Honors College is back with a “Forgot Your Lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money or simply need a snack, please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serve and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. The student computer lab and lounge (the SLUG) on the third floor of LInC 340 will be open:
- Monday-Thursday – 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
- Friday – 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Saturday – noon- 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday – 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
These resources are available throughout the term.
