In 2026, the OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program celebrates 50 years of growing gardening knowledge, partnerships, and community across Oregon. To mark this milestone, we’ll be sharing stories throughout the year that highlight the people and relationships that make this program what it is.
Also, a special 50th anniversary logo has been created just for this year, along with shared messaging that reflects our focus on partnership, connection, and learning together. The anniversary logo was designed by Paul Maree, the Curry County OSU Education Assistant!
As part of the celebration, volunteers are invited to help tell the story of the Master Gardener Program by sharing their own experiences.
Share your story
Your story doesn’t need to be long or polished. A few sentences — or even just answering one question — is more than enough. You’re welcome to respond to any of the prompts below:
- What’s the best part about being a volunteer for gardening and the Master Gardener program?
- What is one thing you are most proud of as a Master Gardener volunteer?
- Tell us about the friends or connections you’ve made in the community through your role as a Master Gardener volunteer.
- Gardening can support our health in many ways, physically and mentally. How have you seen that show up in your own life?
- Why do you think Master Gardener volunteers are needed now more than ever?
Share your story here or via beav.es/mgstory. Photos are welcome but optional.
Nominate Someone Else
Maybe you know someone with a great story who might be a little shy or unlikely to put themselves forward. If there’s a volunteer, partner, or community member you think we should talk to, you can let us know.
Nominate someone for a story or via beav.es/mgnomination We’ll take it from there.
Thank you for being part of the shared story of the Master Gardener Program — and for helping us celebrate 50 years of growing together.
