When making food choices on what I am consuming, I always try to pick the foods I feel will best nourish my body. Foods that I notice I eat in particular are yogurts for snacks or breakfast, kimchi and miso soup for potentially a lunch or dinner. One drink that stands out to me that I know is good for digestion is kombucha. I didn’t discover kombucha until freshman year of college when I would see it in all of the dining halls. I never really thought to try it until I saw my peers drinking it and telling me it was “good for you”. I was super picky when it came to food or drinks coming into college but once I tried it I realized it was also super tasty. I don’t drink it too often as it can lead to excess sugar and calorie intake but it’s nice to throw in with meals once every week or two weeks. Miso soup is something my dad has made since we were little. He also had a close friend that owned a japanese buffet that served it as well. Miso soup is made from fermented rice, bean and rye and is filled with lots of good bacteria such as Lactobacilli and Bifidus. While doing research on which foods provide probiotics, there were foods I eat that I didn’t know were benefiting my digestion. Some of which are mozzarella cheese which I love to use to make homemade pizzas and sourdough bread that I used often to make garlic bread or sandwiches!
