Highlights from the Apothecary Ball

OSU College of Pharmacy alumni, faculty and students shook the dance floor and stirred up excitement at blackjack tables, took their chances at the roulette wheel, and rolled the dice at the craps table Saturday, February 19 as the Student Executive Council hosted the Apothecary Ball.

This 6th annual event, led by officers of the second year professional class, was our most successful ever and brings together pharmacists from all practice settings in the profession for an evening of enjoyment.

The Apothecary Ball provides support for a dynamic and robust program of patient care outreach and professional development led by OSU student pharmacists. In the past year, more than 100 students received support to assist them in attending state, regional and national professional development activities and every student was involved in patient care outreach.

Highlights include support for students to attend the Utah School for Alcoholism and Other Dependencies, join the OSU Medical Brigades in Honduras, and touch the lives of thousands of Oregonians with healthcare services and information. More than 2000 Oregonians were impacted through immunizations alone.

Special thanks to all alumni and friends of the college who attended the ball, donated raffle items, and generously supported OSU students through their attendance. Dr. Eric Lamb (Class of 1993) of Baker City won the unofficial ‘traveled greatest distance’ alumni award this year.

An enormous thank you to Rite Aid, Albertsons Sav-On, and Fred Meyer for their generous contributions to the Ball. These corporations and many others demonstrated their continued commitment to student professional development through their support of this annual ‘night on the town’.
