Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 16th Uppsala Conference on Electron Capture (ECD) and Transfer Dissociation (ETD) and related radical directed dissociation techniques (UPPCON 2023) in Corvallis, Oregon. We hope that you will enjoy both the scientific program and the social activities. They should make for a stimulating and fun atmosphere to learn the latest developments in mass spectrometry!
UPPCON was started by Professor Roman Zubarev in 2003 and has developed into the international meeting for alternative fragmentation techniques. We revived and slightly expanded the following from Roman that was used in the 2015 meeting at UCLA by Joe Loo.
In a world where collisions dominate the landscape…
And CID reigns as an ugly king…
A small group of scientists secretly rebelled by using electrons and radicals…
But when their experiments yielded results of tremendous value…
They decided to hold a conference and tell the world…
So sign up for UPPCON 2023 and help save the world from CID!!!
And come see how the light (UVPD) can illuminate top down.
Mass spectrometry instruments has been revolutionized by the phenomenal improvements in resolution, speed and sensitivity, but the one area that has lagged is the fragmentation of large and complex macromolecules. We are pleased to collaborate with the Consortium for Top Down Proteomics to offer a session on alternative fragmentation methods applied to macromolecular complexes.
The impact of these methods on peptide and protein analysis has been increasingly recognized. This conference provides a venue for speakers from around the world to discuss new insights into radical ion chemistry, the latest developments in methodology and instrumentation, as well as the challenges for biomolecule characterization.
The conference is hosted by Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. Our program will run between Sunday evening through Wednesday, with social activities each evening to visit the area. A poster session will feature additional contributions for in-depth discussion. More information about this year’s conference is forthcoming soon on the website as we finalize details and support.
Look forward to seeing you soon,
Joe Beckman, Valery Voinov, Yury Vasil’ev and Doug Barofsky
