Capstone Blog#2 – Getting Started

This week was the first week all three members of the team met. The team I am working in is a team of three; myself a colleague I worked with before and a new member who neither myself nor my colleague have worked with before. So far, the team has good chemistry and the meetings have been productive.

With introductions out of the way, the real work began on the project. Or the planning for the real work at least. We laid the groundwork for our project and sketched out our shared vision for the application we plan to develop. The application, based on the requirements laid out in the “bike collective“, will be a mobile app. We plan on developing the app for Android, but as a stretch goal we would also like to develop the app for IOS. This should be an attainable stretch goal as we will be developing the app with the flutter framework.

As two of our group members have taken the mobile development elective, we have a fairly good grasp on what needs to be done to implement the app. No actual coding has taken place and the group has agreed to not impose branch protection rules on our main branch until the 14th of October to give members a chance to “mock up” pages without the need for a code review. I have a good feeling about this capstone group and am looking forward to this term.
