Since I missed my third assigned blog post last week, this post will be an update on what has happened in the two weeks since my last post. Finally, we have started to code our project. I had mixed feelings about spending so much time on the initial project plan document, but now that we have begun the implementation of the app I am glad we spent the time we did. Not only does the document serve as a reference for us when implementing the app, but it has also provided me with some structure on what features I should be working on.
From my experience working as an engineer, I know that group dynamics can make or break a project. On this point, I am fairly confident that our group will turn out to be high functioning. However, I am a bit worried as one of our group members has not pushed any code to the github repo. I have no reason to believe he is not performing the work set out in his weekly plan as so far he has been punctual with his work. It is hard for me to trust someone I have never worked with before and that I have only met “over the phone”.
Despite this, the progress on the app has been good. I feel very comfortable with flutter as I took a mobile development class last term. The only obstacles I see in the near future are a lack of time. Work has been extremely busy for me lately and I have been feeling very stressed. Along with work, I have also started a Masters program in Materials Science at Boise State University. I am usually able to balance all three commitments, but lately I have been slipping.
