One situation I have experienced when compensation was a motivating factor was when I was deciding between staying at my job as a barista or switching to being a server at a restaurant. While I was weighing my options, I thought about how the tips at the restaurant would be much better than they were at the coffee shop. As a full time student who is responsible for all of her expenses, I knew that I needed to take the job where I would be getting more money. The compensation in the restaurant job was so much better that I would even be able to work less hours, letting me focus more on my school work.
Compensation has always been a large motivating factor in my life, since I have been in charge of ALL of my expenses since I left high school. I have had to grow up faster than others, but I believe that I am very fortunate to have this knowledge and knowing when is the time for change. When I am job searching, compensation will always one of the most important factors, because having better compensation will leave me more time to be able to focus on other, more important things in my life.
Thank you for reading my first post! 🙂
