SIG Scheduled Maintenance

Name Server Maintenance 8/16 @ 10pm

We will be performing scheduled maintenance on the name servers. Only one name server will be taken down at a time to minimize any potential impact. Each host will be unreachable for approximately 5 minutes while maintenance is in progress and the system is rebooted.

Any services hard-coded to a single name server will likely experience issues until that name server is restored.

Cyder will continue to be available although any changes will not be pushed live until the maintenance is complete.

MySQL Cluster update 7/23 10pm-1030pm

** Maintenance Announcement – MySQL Cluster patching and reboot **

On 7/23 from 10pm the MySQL cluster will be updated, this will require a reboot of the master node.   The following applications will be affected:

  • Cyder
  • Wireless Self-registration
  • DCA Tools website
  • Outages Blog
  • SMTP AUTH throttling
  • Misc legacy NET webpages

DNS/DHCP will continue to function during this time, and SMTP mail flow will not be affected. The Outages, DCA Tools, and legacy NET webpages will be available in a read only state. Authentication to OSU_Access will not be affected.

vCenter update 7/26/2016 8pm – 11:59pm

** Maintenance Announcement – VM Management interruption expected, no other interruptions anticipated **

The vCenter management service will be updated to the latest release starting at 8pm on 7/26/2016.   This will not impact running VMs nor your ability to RDP or SSH into your VMs.

The vSphere web client will not be available until this operation is complete. If you need help finding a VM you can contact us during the maintenance at: 7-7SIG (7-7744).

Storage Maintenance 6/25/16 6am-9am

We will be upgrading the OS and firmware on our Fast and Capacity storage systems.  We do not anticipate any downtime nor impact to any customers.

We will be performing emergency maintenance on NS5 (128.193.15.13). This name server will be unreachable for approximately 5 minutes while maintenance is in progress and the system is rebooted.

Any services hard-coded to a single name server will likely experience issues until that name server is restored.

Cyder will continue to be available although any changes will not be pushed live until the maintenance is complete.

Database Migration – 3/26/16 @ 10pm

We will be migrating databases from an the current Mysql cluster onto a new one.  Part of the process is modifying the applications configuration to point to the new cluster.  The following services will experience momentary downtime while these configuration changes are made:

  • Cyder
  • Wireless Self-registration
  • DCA Tools website
  • Outages Blog

There will be no interruptions of DNS/DHCP during this maintenance.

Proxy Server Maintenance – 2/19

On Friday 2/19 at 2pm we will begin maintenance on the proxy servers.  As the proxy servers are redundant there should be no impact to users of the service.

Mail Relay Maintenance – 2/19
