Instead of describing a past job compared to the job description, I decided to look into my current place of employment. For those of you who have read my previous posts you may know by now that I am currently working for the magazine on campus, Beaver’s Digest. It’s a job I never imagined working at, but I quickly learned to love. I am a contributor, which means I pitch and write my own articles about contemporary issues that are relevant to our student body. On top of that, I also began running their social media platform.
Now that you know a little about my position with Beaver’s Digest, in relation to the job description it definitely fluctuates. The job description did not have a ton of influence on my decision to apply for this position, because I knew at the time I was not much of a writer. I knew, however, it fit my guidelines of being on campus and not a lot of hours since I wanted school to be my main focus for my senior year. For the most part, my experience working for Beaver’s Digest fit the job description. What intrigued me probably the most about the job description, is that I can make my own hours. One week I can work 10 hours if I want, and the next I can work 2. Since I took on the role of running their social media, that was not stated in the job description. I have built a great relationship with my boss, so she trusts me with more responsibilities than others.
