  • Weihong and Radhika Subramanian from Harvard Medical School served as Co-Chairs for a Cell Bio 2020 Minisymposium on “Building and Decorating Cell Skeleton”.
  • Weihong will give an invited talk in the “1st Symposium on Molecular Engine” in Chiba, Japan on January 8th, 2020.

  • Ethiene Kwok (Kathy) joined the lab as a Faculty Research Assistant. Welcome back, Kathy!
  • The Qiu lab received a 5-year NIH R01 grant to study the mechanism and regulation of kinesin-14 motors in mitotic spindle assembly.
  • Weihong is co-chairing a special interest subgroup with Will Hancock of Penn State University on “building complexity to understand the microtubule cytoskeleton” at the ASCB/EMBO 2019 meeting in Washington DC!

  • Our work on the role of the central stalk in the motility of mitotic kinesin-14 motors was accepted for publication in Current Biology!
  • Our joint work with Prof. Bo Liu’s lab at UC Davis on the discovery of the first processive minus-end-directed kinesin-14 motor was accepted for publication in Nature Communications!
  • Weihong gave an invited talk in the motility subgroup during the 2018 Biophysical Society Meeting in San Francisco!

  • Weihong is co-chairing a special interest subgroup with Will Hancock of Penn State University on “the emerging phenomena of molecular motors” at the ASCB/EMBO 2017 meeting in Philodelpia!

  • Weihong is invited to give a keynote presentation on unconventional kinesin-14 motors at the OCPA9 International Conference that will take place in July 17-20 at Tsinghua University.
