With only 6 games left in the regular season, fans of OSU baseball start wondering about the Beaver’s chances to make the post-season tournament. In the current NCAA post-season era, OSU has made it into the post-season 12 times – 6 times between 1947 and 2004, and 6 times between 2005 and 2011. The chances are good that OSU will again be in the NCAA post-season tournament for the 13th all-time appearance this season.
Here’s the ten official criteria considered by the NCAA baseball post-season tournament selection committee used for selection and seeding of the tournament field and OSU’s performance to date:
1. Overall record 33-17, 0.660
2. Division 1 record 33-17, 0.660
3. Overall RPI Ranking 32 – Boyd Nation, 31 – Warren Nolan (last official RPI on May13th was 34)
4. Non-conference record and RPI ranking of opponents 20-6 (0.769), 134
5. Conference regular-season record 13-11, 0.542
6. Road record and RPI ranking of opponents 13-10 (0.565), 88
7. Last 15 games’ record 5-4, 0.556
3 road games @WSU and 3 home games vs. UO remain on the schedule
