Make an Appointment with your Advisor!

Happy Halloween College of Forestry!

It’s that time of year again; a chance to dress up and revel in the spirit of Halloween!  That means it is also time to schedule an advising appointment to prepare for Winter Term!  Take advantage of the College of Forestry’s new online appointment system to schedule an appointment.

As you prepare to meet with your advisor, begin thinking about courses that you want to take this upcoming term, and come with questions!  Some things that should be crossing your mind include:

  • Am I on track to graduate by my goal date?
  • How did I perform this term academically and is that where I want to be?
  • How can I improve my academic performance next term?

Priority registration for Phase 1 of the 2015 Winter Term begins on Sunday, November 16th!

Have a safe and happy Halloween weekend!

Student Services Survey

Hello CoF Undergraduate Students,

The primary goals of the Student Services Office are to enhance the learning environment of our undergraduate students, inform prospective students of our excellent academic programs and financial opportunities, and provide extra-curricular and/or educational support, resources, and assistance to students, faculty, and staff.

Because we are focused on helping you and providing things you need, we need YOUR input!  We have developed a short survey, and we’d like to ask for just a few moments of your time to let us know what we’re doing right, where we can improve, and what other services/resources/events you’d like to see from us.  The survey closes on November 4, 2014.  Thank you!

Also don’t forget to follow us on twitter! Both the Self-Learning Center (SLC) and the Student Services Office now have a twitter page!  The SLC page will keep you updated on the reserve materials and computer availability in the SLC (as well as when free coffee is available) and the Student Services Office page will keep you informed on when to make appointments with your advisor, as well as other important dates in the College of Forestry!

Student Services Office Assessment Survey

Hello CoF Undergraduate Students,

The primary goals of the Student Services Office are to enhance the learning environment of our undergraduate students, inform prospective students of our excellent academic programs and financial opportunities, and provide extra-curricular and/or educational support, resources, and assistance to students, faculty, and staff.

We are in the process of developing a strategic plan for the near future, and we are seeking your input and feedback on the services and resources we provide.  We have developed a short survey, and we’d like to ask for just a few moments of your time to let us know what we’re doing right, where we can improve, and what other services/resources/events you’d like to see from us.  The survey closes on November 4, 2014.  Thank you!

Welcome to the 2014-15 academic year!

Welcome new and returning students!  We are so happy to have you here in the College of Forestry.  This year promises to bring  fun times, new experiences, and many exciting opportunities.

If you haven’t seen your advisor in a while do stop by to say hi.  This summer the new online advising appointment scheduling system launched.  Check out this video to learn how to use the system to schedule time with your advisor.

Did you know the college has a new head advisor?  Nicole Kent is the Manager for Undergraduate Curricula & Advising (AKA Head Advisor) and her office is in Peavy 204.

We here in Student Services are also happy to answer questions, give a little help, or connect you with resources across campus.  We’re located in Peavy 250.

If you’d like to learn about our student clubs and organizations, please plan to attend Clubs Day on October 14th.  From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Peavy Hall Courtyard you’ll find representatives from the CoF student clubs and organizations, and they’ll be able to tell you all about their activities, meeting schedule, etc. and you can even join the club.

Don’t forget to check out the Fernhopper Newsletter.  Each week this electronic publication is emailed to your OSU email account.  It’s filled with news, information, opportunities, and a listing of upcoming deadlines, etc.  It’s a great resource to use to keep up with happenings around the CoF.  Opportunities abound in the CoF!  Be sure to take advantage of them.
